Phil Meheux to Lens 'Casino Royale'
IMDb lists 'GoldenEye' cinematographer to return with Campbell

The IMDb's Casino Royale page is now showing Phil Meheux as the Casino Royale DP. Makes sense as Meheux is the DP on Campbell's Zorro, but the IMDb is not infallible, as we've all learned. Nevertheless, there it is.

*****

From the June CBn Dossier

As previously speculated, CBn can now confirm that Phil Meheux is locked in as Casino Royale's director of photography.

Also despite reports, Casino Royale will film briefly in England... before moving to Prague for studio work and South Africa for location shooting.

A veteran from GoldenEye as well, and it seems Michael Solinger is returning again.

Was Peter Lamont always listed there, or is that new too?

I'm fairly sure he's always been listed.

And, of course, he was Canpbell's DP on GoldenEye too.

I liked what Meheux did on that movie so Casino Royale should look great as well.

Good cinematography in GE, especially the Cuba scenes! I'm getting more and more excited!

Logical given his relationship with Campbell.

Sounds good to me.

Considering he's worked on every Martin Campbell film since GoldenEye, I can't say I'm surprised. What I am surprised at is how no-one made this connection sooner.

Then again, there have been more important fish to fry, like who, for the love of God, will be James Bond!?

It's okay. I'm calm. :)

Like any good director (I'm a big MC fan), he's putting together a team of people he trusts and has worked with.

If CR is half as good as GE, I'll be thrilled.

Maybe this is bit over the top even as opinion, but I *think* Martin Campbell is becoming the Terence Young of this generation of Bond and Bond fans.

He's all about re-invigorating all the things that make Bond great.

Phil Meheux is top notch. This should be cool.

Sounds good to me. Now if they get the editor right-anyone but Christian Wagner, we'll have a really good crew on our hands.

No surprise. I was expecting Meheux for CASINO ROYALE. He has shot no fewer than seven features for Campbell: CRIMINAL LAW, DEFENSELESS, NO ESCAPE, GOLDENEYE, THE MASK OF ZORRO, BEYOND BORDERS and THE LEGEND OF ZORRO. Clearly, the two men have a great working relationship.

Still, I wish David Tattersall was returning. I love his work on DIE ANOTHER DAY, and he's worked with Campbell, on VERTICAL LIMIT.

In Italy we use to say: "a winner team won't be changed"

So Martin Campbell was casted and so Phil Meheux...

They renewed the formula

There's something with Pierce Brosnan going on?

Let's see.....

Does anyone know what Clive Owen's relationship with Martin Campbell was like for BEYOND BORDERS?

IMDB is notoriously unreliable. If you wait long enough, Jerry Mathers will also be making a cameo as the Beaver, too.

I hope this is true. Casino Royale needs the little mysterial and dark cinematography that GoldenEye had.

But this isn't IMDb "main-page" news, this only user-added information which makes it somewhat quesionable.

Correct. I wouldn't go banco on this until confirmed by Eon...but in light of their past working relationship, I think it's pretty likely to be true.

Good point. I always thought of GoldenEye as a darker Bond film. Hopefully that will help Casino Royale if that turns out to be the case.

Looks like we're in for another GE.

*excitement*

Dear Eon,
Please postpone the release of the new Bond film until I've moved out of my parents' house, so that I'll be able to see it on opening day. Thank you.

He's a good choice but I still hope David Tattersall will come back again. I liked his more colorful, epic, cinematography on Die Another Day - almost Alan Hume quality.
