According to the daily star newspaper that the hot new favourite to take the role for James Bond is actor Gary Stretch, as the newspaper says he will go back for a final audition on Friday

Well, at least his name lends some good potential for headlines.

Hard to give an opinion based on the picture on IMDB. Looks like he might have the looks. Nice to have a new name thrown in at this stage.

British boxer-turned-model-turned actor. Small part in ALEXANDER. Regularly in the tabloids. Has managed to pick up some good reviews for his acting, in fact: The Guardian called his performance in DEAD MAN'S SHOES a 'revelation', saying he was 'cool, hard, sinuously malevolent'. Could happen, though it seems like about the billionth tabloid story to say someone is about to be announced. Messrs Craig, Owen and several others have had very similar stories about them.

Gary who?

His extremely limited acting experience makes me doubt he could be a top contender for the role of Bond.

He's not a contender. The people at EON would have to be completely stupid to even consider this guy for the role when there are other find candidates out there for the role like Clive Owen, Daniel Craig, Gerard Butler, etc.

Anybody see his fight with Eubank back in the early 1990s?

Lost on a back-headbutt from the Brighton Braggart.

Bring on Blofeld and the rest!

To be fair, it only says he's being auditioned, which doesn't stretch beyond the realms of my imagination for this guy.

No. My guess is this is just tabloid rubbish.

Don't know who he is, but he looks quite good.
A sort of young Pierce Brosnan
He could be good, deep eyes, dark hair and so and so...
Let's allow him in the list!!!!

I think this guy has the right looks. I can't remember him from Alexander. In that movie I only noticed an unfortunately too tall Rory McCann who looks like Connery's taller twin, as a next-Bond possibility. However there was one character who was very close to Alexander who later stood up to him and got killed by him. He had, in my judgement, a "Bondian" face too. However he was about as tall as Collin Farrell which makes him too short. Was that Gary Stretch?

Judging by the latest news... he's way too old. By 20 years. :)

Hopefully not. The Young Bond (film) news is horrible. :)

I mentioned Stretch in the "next Bond" thread but everyone ignored me. He's 36 years old, has black hair, is from England, and has actually gotten some positive reviews for his acting by critics.

I'm not saying he's my top choice, but I don't think it's stupid like tdalton says to consider anyone besides Owen, Butler, and Craig.

Here's another picture:

I wasn't narrowing it down to those three. I put "etc." at the end to refer to the others we've talked about, but I just didn't feel like typing out a bunch more names.
