10.Collateral: Tom Cruise doesn't annoy me in this film. Amazing. Michael Mann knows how to shoot L.A.

9.Hero:A beautiful feast of scenery and martial arts action with great music.

8.Hildago: Underappreciated, underrated and totally ignored. A good adventure film for all ages.

7.Man on Fire: a remake of an obscure 1987 film starring Scott Glen but this is almost like an unoffical sequel to 'Proof of life' because kidknapping a major part of the storyline. A terrific if flawed thriller set in Mexico city.

6.Team America:World Police: A satire of Jerry Bruckheimer movies is crude and irreverant but funny. The music makes the movie.

5.Shaolin Soccer: Comedy about Kung Fu masters who apply their talents to soccer is hilarious.

4.Kill Bill volume 2: Terrific act 2 is very satisfying...

3.Spiderman 2:All around better than the first. The best superhero franchise ever.

2.The Bourne Supremacy: Another superior sequel in 2004 is the new gold standard for spy thrillers(take note Eon but don't rip this off please).I love the much maligned "shaky cam" too.

1. The House of Flying Daggers: Best of the recent kung Fu dramas(Crouching Tiger, Hero). The action is breathtaking, the cinematography delicious and the actors are great at combat and drama.Superb film. :) :)

Interesting list Tarl. I can't really recall every film I did see, but some of my favorites for this year were:

Kill Bill Vol. 2: What more really needs to be said? A great sequel and story with a kick-:) Daryl Hannah.

Spiderman-2: Alfred Molina's Dr. Ock shines in this better-than-the-first sequel with a great story as well.

Hidalgo: Underrated, and enjoyable. Not terrific, but serviceable.

Man On Fire: Great cast and story, shame about that editting. (It annoyed me anyways)

Meet The Fockers: A crazy romp of chaos and humor.

1. The Aviator - A terrific, terrific film. Almost a sure bet for Best Picture, and Leo and Cate Blanchett knock it out of the park.

2. The House of Flying Daggers - Far better than Crouching Tiger, and a little better than Hero, this movie kicks major butt. Beautiful and awe-inspiring.

3. The Incredibles - The most fun I've had at the movies this year. Brad Bird and Pixar have created the best superhero movie ever.

4. Collateral - A tightly made thriller where Tom Cruise actually shows that he can act when there's a decent director at the helm.

5. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - What a weird trip of a movie, but a such a unique and fascinating one as well. You've never seen a movie like this.

6. Hero - One of the greatest martial arts films ever, and by far the most epic. Sumptuous and beautiful.

7. Kill Bill vol. 2 - It's a fine follow-up to Kill Bill vol. 1. Not as eye-popping or fun as the first, but it still has some great Tarantino characterizations.

8. Napoleon Dynamite - It's bizarre and fun at the same time. This is definitely the cult hit of the year, and you're either going to die laughing or sit in boredom.

8. The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra - A quirky, little-known comedy that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was made for 10,000 bucks and it shows, but it made me laugh, so that's why it's here.

10. Andrew Lloyd Webber

My favourite film of the year had to be "Troy". My only problem with the movie was Orlando Bloom who played Paris. Even though he did a terrific job, I just didn't find him believeable as a prince of Troy. Other than that, a brilliant movie.

In no order whatsoever and not necessarily my favorites:

The Bourne Supremacy-I enjoyed it but it's a small step down from the first one. The car chase was good but the current trend of in your face editing really has to stop. I like how they set up the third film though, very cool.

Spider-Man 2-Honestly, I was somewhat bored by this one though I still feel it's quite good. The action, Alfred Molina and the special effects are great but there was waaaay too much focus on Paker's angst. It was just hammered into the ground.

Van Helsing-Dear lord this was a disappointment. The first 45-50 minutes are great but after that it just gets worse and worse. I could have done without a Frankenstein Monster who is a manic depressive and honestly that ending was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. Still, cool werewolf design and transformation sequences.

Club Dread-It's not as good as Super Troopers and it really is better as a slasher film than a comedy but I got a kick out of seeing an 80's style horror movie in this CGI age.

Funny, yes, even hilarious when you're in the right mood, but it's stupid as hell. Certainly doesn't deserve to be one of the year's top ten best films.

Dodgeball was just OK for me. Seems like comedies are few and far between in recent years.

I agree. A truly intelligent comedy is quite rare these days... I can laugh at most stuff that's put out, but sometimes I'll just pop in my Young Frankenstein DVD when I want a reminder of what GREAT comedy is.

I thought it was atrocious, not necessarily because it was an awful film, but just because it was a waste of Shyamalan's talent. I loved Sixth Sense and enjoyed Unbreakable and (to a far lesser extent) Signs. Why he created the predictable, uninteresting, and muddled mess that is The Village I will never know.

Many of my friends did enjoy it, but I can't bring myself to like it. I was just severely disappointed in it, and the fact that Shyamalan had hyped it up as a scary, scary film didn't help. Ugh. Hopefully Shyamalan will move onto another type of film than the "twist ending" ones (both of the twists for The Village I predicted 10 minutes into the movie).

To each his own. I think The Village is most definitely the one film of his that you either love or dispise, compared to how fans look at his other three. Yes, it is most definitely not a very scary film at all and the trailers were decieving in that they hyped it up to be. However, the film itself was satisfying to me. It's nothing extraordinary, but I like the confined feeling it has and the well-placed acting.

Forgot about I, Robot. I was pleasantly surprised by it, it's actually quite good. Will Smith is good in a serious role and it's remarkably intelligent for a summer blockbuster.

I agree and I thought this would turn out to be a guilty pleasure, but there's nothing to be guilty about (but no I, Robot II please).

The DVD has heaps of extra features as well, which I like.

As did I. I guess there were quite a few good ones this year. It was great to see Will Smith back again in that one.

Second to that, I'd say Spider-Man 2. Or maybe Troy.

I saw only saw three new films last year.

The Incredibles was grand, The Bourne Supremacy was so-so, and Spider-Man 2 was disappointing.
