So should Barbara have been Naomi and Caroline been Triple X? What do you all think?

Mainly because I find Barbara Bach's looks very Russian-esque and she just seemed to mesh that role immediately. Caroline Munro had this flair about her as an evil Italian vixen. That was my 2 cents.

Can't agree on this one. I like them how they are. With the news and photos from the recent The Spy Who Loved Me screening at the Egyptian theater in Los Angeles with the lovely-as-always Caroline Munro, a question came to my mind: should its 2 leading ladies have switched roles with Miss Munro playng Anya Amasova and Barbara Bach playing Naomi? I say yes. While I certainly like Miss Bach, I absolutely adore Miss Munro. Caroline turned down an opportunity to play the villainess Ursa in the first two Superman films(which turned out to be a great role for Sarah Douglas) in order to play Naomi but sadly, her character gets badly shortchanged by her very short screen life in The Spy Who Loved Me. Had she played Anya instead, Miss Munro would have gotten to be immortalized as a major Bond heroine and one of the most important women in Bond's life. Also, Miss Bach(or Mrs. Starr, if you prefer) seemed to diss her most famous role in later years and has tended to distance herself from the world of Bond whereas Miss Munro has totally embraced her inclusion in the 007 film series and shows up for Bond fan events and appeared in Vanity Fair magazine's "Bond Girls Are Forever" photo shoot years ago as well as in the "Inside The Spy Who Loved Me" documentary on the special edition DVD.

I like them both in the roles they have. Plus, I think Barbara Bach is the sexiest of all the Bond girls.

Her character worked because she had a small role. I think Naomi may have actually been more renowned than Anya is. They made Naomi truly a Bond girl/ femme fatale. Sexcy, voloptous, and that hallmark wink.No way, Barbara Bach is way too gorgeous to get a secondary role like Naomi's. I was never that fond of Caroline Munro anyway, maybe she didn't get a fair chance but I like them the way they are.
A perfect character.

Why missed?so maybe this henchgirl in TSWLM was a missed opportunity!
Does a small role necessarily mean a lesser one?

Why does Munro embrace her Bond association? Because her acting career started and ended in 1977. If my only acting job was in a Bond movie I would also try to stay near that character until I die. Bach apparently didn't need to even though she should have.

I admire that but the truth is the truth.Whoa there. Munro had an excellent role, it's nice that she shows up at Bond events and speaks about it.

You can certainly tell that from the enthuastic performance. Naomi rocks.Actually... from what I learned after meeting Caroline Munro on Aug 8th... she REALLY liked Niomi's character. So because of that, I believe she was cast correctly.

Caroline Munro's acting career didn't start and end in 1977. Miss Munro started appearing in films in 1966. She appeared as one of Dr. Noah's Guard Girls in Casino Royale and throughout the 1970s and 1980s, appeared in several films in the sci-fi/fantasy genre, the best being her role as Margiana the female lead in Ray Harryhausen's 1974 fantasy classic The Golden Voyage of Sinbad. I remember being captivated by her beauty in the cult sci-fi films At The Earth's Core(1976) and Star Crash(1979). When I finally saw The Spy Who Loved Me for the first time on a double-feature re-release with Moonraker in 1980, I was surprised and excited to see Miss Munro's name listed in the opening credits since I had been a fan of hers long before I became a Bond fan. Miss Munro's multiple film appearances(definitely including but not limited to The Spy Who Loved Me) along with her posters and commercials caused her to gain many fans and admirers. Why does Munro embrace her Bond association? Because her acting career started and ended in 1977. If my only acting job was in a Bond movie I would also try to stay near that character until I die.

ABC naturally went into a fit with that when they originally aired it I believe.I like the characters the way they are. It's kind of cool to have that missed opportunity for Bond. Naomi wanted him, he wanted her but they didn't get together. I love the rear nude scene in the shower on the sub with Anya. They don't do that enough anymore.

In most cases, a non-Bond fan wouldn't know who she is.Caroline Munro's acting career didn't start and end in 1977. Miss Munro started appearing in films in 1966. While it's a safe bet that The Spy Who Loved Me is the best film Caroline Munro ever appeared in, The Golden Voyage of Sinbad is the best film I've seen her in where she has a sizable amount of screen time. I recommend checking it out. I need to rent At The Earth's Core and Star Crash again before recommending them. Haven't watched those in many years. On many of the video rental stores, The Golden Voyage of Sinbad is strongly recommended for another viewing of her. (Other than The Spy Who Loved Me.)

I will have to take your recommendation then. I'm guessing the local Blockbuster has it, since it was recommended by their review on the movie rental box. While it's a safe bet that The Spy Who Loved Me is the best film Caroline Munro ever appeared in, The Golden Voyage of Sinbad is the best film I've seen her in where she has a sizable amount of screen time. Caroline Munro definitely should have gotten more screen time. Or maybe a movie where she was an actual Bond girl instead of a stooge for Stromberg. She looks a lot like Christina Aguilera. The difference is that you may not get an STD from Caroline Munro by shaking her hand.
