Damn it, but that trailer has my blood pumping. It does at least LOOK like the movie we've been waiting for.

The Emperor and Yoda fighting in the Senate room, throwing the senate floating things at eachother? AWESOME.

I won't be on the board for a while as I am going to go camp out in line for the next couple months to be first for this film.

Kidding.

Let the summer films begin. There seems to be a lot of potentially good ones this year. Too bad no Bond. That would really round it out.

If I could only do something about all the snow and wintery weather around here it would actually seem like like summer may actually get here sometime.

Sorry to spoil all yin's fun, but Lucas said a while ago that Jar Jar's death will NOT be in the film. Its really a shame too, cause people would be drawn to see the film just for that scene.

Man, I am really tired of that Jar Jar's death crap. He's barely in the film. I agree, he is annoying, but why do people wish him dead? That would just give him more screen time.

On to the trailer: excellent. I for one am looking forward to the movie.

I was actually slightly underwhelmed by it, I thought the teaser was better.

Could use more Vader :)

Music choice was a little puzzling, I'd have used a slow string Imperial March or The Emperor's Theme.

Still, looking forward to May 19th.

When I was younger, I used to get excited about the new James Bond film coming out, which at the time happened to star Roger Moore. I'd go see it multiple times. In mentioning it to older people, they could care less. Sure the action scenes are more slick, along with other production values. And they make plenty of money, so you can't argue their success. But there's only one James Bond, they'd say. And you just don't understand what it was like in the 60s, when the Cold War was at its peak temperature, and a new James Bond film starring Sean Connery opened. That was the beginning of the so-called event film. It was part of the culture. It was a phenomenon not to be missed.

I never really understood what they meant, until this new crop of "Star Wars" films. Now I understand, in this midst of the craze for this new film, how there is still some central aspect of magic that is missing--at least when you consider the last two films. Whatever that quality is--chemistry among the heroes, an edge of real danger, a storyline that in spite of the fantasy still reaches the audience--these new films sadly lack it.

I'll go see this, but I remember looking forward to the last two and coming away very disappointed. On the other hand, I understand this film has non-stop action, and Lucas thinks that the violence and dark storyline might get it a PG-13 rating...so that's at least encouraging.

p.s. Darth Vader in this film means nothing to me. David Prowse is Darth Vader. Not Christian Hayden wearing foam padding under the suit.

I agree with most of that Donovan except your comment about Vader.Prowes is just a guy wearing the costume; James Earl Jones IS Vader. Hayden is also Vader now, like it or not; I couldn't stand him in AOTC but he seems to have matured here.In that scene in the trailer when he leads the storm troopers to kill the jedi he is not playing Anakin. He is Darth Vader, pre-lava burned wearing-life supporting armor.Vader it looks, offically arrives before helmut goes on. That intrigues me. I do agree the prequels have been lacking but I'm goinna give this one a fair chance.I'll see it once and if I really like it I'll go again and maybe buy the DVD, and have the Quadrilogy. :)

I'm a rare ROTJ fan. Every SW purist seems to hate it but I love it for the Emperor; he's by far the most quotable villian of all time and so that's why I'm really fired up for this one. And I love that he's being played by the same guy. That showdown with Yoda is gonna awesome. And I can't wait to see him waste Sam and co. :)

I love Star Wars, sure the original trilogy was fantastic, but these new films (the prequels) have been lots of fun, and I have enjoyed them a lot, not paying attention to the hype or the huge amounts of expectation, and I'm really looking forward to EIII. The only regret I have is that this is probably the last SW film, at least for a long while!

I believe we agree on a lot more than other threads may have indicated.

As for James Earl Jones, well he's absolutely the voice of Darth Vader. But I wouldn't disregard what Prowse contributed, OR even the menacing breath SFX that Ben Burtt created. Most definitely a character that depended on the collaboration of several talented people to effectively flesh out.

For his part, Prowse had an awesome build for the part. The height, the proportions. His body language in playing Vader used the costume to its full potential. Notice how a guy his size turns his head quicker than most naturally would (while strangling the guy aboard the Tantive IV, giving orders to General Veers to "prepare your men", storming the rebel base on Hoth--a scene with no dialogue in which Vader shows a fierce determination that doesn't need James Earl Jones to support).

So when I saw the video of Hayden suiting up with his foam padding, well, let's just say I found myself with a disturbing lack of faith.

I second (or third) those emotions. Yes there's something missing from this prequel trilogy: No cynical loner like Han Solo, no dramatic character arc beyond Anakin's descent to the dark side. What's telling is looking at Episode's I & II while having the Original Trilogy DVDs on hand. When you get right down to it, Episodes IV-VI look quaint and have a charm about them that you long for. Sorta like looking fondly at the original "The Matrix" now that Reloaded & Revolutions have been played to death on cable.

I hope Lucas can get it all done in this episode. I truly want to see a completed circle by the time the end credits roll. I want to see how we go from a universe so dense with aliens to a galactic war with basically only humans and droids fighting against each other.

Whatever Episode III truly turns out to be, this trailer has piqued my interest.

"Luke, your going to find that many of the truths we cling to rely on our own point of view."- Obi-Wan Kenobi

Probably the only line that resonates the most with me from ROTJ.

I watched the full version of the trailer at my local news last night, and, like other film trailers, they revealed too much of the film. I quickly changed the channel.

It's ridiculious with the trailers nowadays.
