I am a huge Bond fan but am also a huge Bolan fan and I have yet to stumble upon a forum for the character, so I started a small one on my own. I hope that if their are some Executioner fans they will join.

The site is http://mackbolan.proboards31.com/

Thanks

You know, I've seen these books everywhere in secondhand book shops (places I haunt the most), but never got the urge to get into The Executioner for some reason. Don't know why.

Same goes for the Sam Durrell series.

I used to read the Bolan series and especially it's spin-off series, PHOENIX FORCE. I have nearly the entire run of PF and several Bolans. I also have done some fan reviews on the mackbolan.com site under the name "Alan Hart." The PF books are laughably violent and my wife would kick me when I laughed too hard in bed as the "author", actually they had a stable of ghost writers--would describe in vivid detail the villains' deaths. I havent read one in awhile.

I remember seeing this series a lot too when I was a kid. I was always intrigued by the mean looking Bolan. And they had a lot of cool titles like Kansas City Slaugher or Boston Massacre and the like.

I wonder why this character has never been turned into some kind of series?

I always thought LTK was like a Mack Bolan adventure.I think Stallone was attached to making the series at one point in the late 80's.

According to the 1984 "Executioner's New War Book", Burt Reynolds held the rights to any Mack Bolan movie project. Of course, old Burt is waaay too long in the tooth to play the role, but he could maybe sell the rights to someone else. I'm sure with all of the super heroes back in vogue, along with the Punisher (who is a Punisher rip-off, btw.) we can safely assume that a Mack Bolan film will someday be a reality.

mackbolan.com a great site that features all of the books. I also tried joining the new Bolan site, but it wouldn't let me use any names to register. I get the following reply: "The username you have selected has invalid words and/or characters in it. Please select a new name."

That is correct, and so is Burt Renolds. Right now I doubt they will ever make a Bolan film for following reasons.

1) Buying the right to the 100 SuperBolans, 70+ StonyMans, 310 Executioners which all feature the Bolan character, if they don't buy them all, other companies would buy them and start a rival franchise

2) Paying royalties to all the authors

3) Having a contract which means they own rights to future novels!

and all that, but I still hope that they will film a series of them!

Do you mean on my site? If so, just give me the step by step of what you are doing by trying to register and I will try to help.

Actually, The Punisher ripped off Mack Bolan, and I am always surprised they never sued. The first Bolan book "War Against the Mafia" debuted in 1968 and The Punisher first appeared around 1973-1974

I remember seeing the Executioner books way back when... they had a blck binding if I remember correctly and all had artwork that reminded you of 007.... are they any fun to read?

I think they even did a 3 issue comic series too?

The cover artist for the Executioner series for quite awhile was named Gil Cohen, who did great work. The books themselves are fun and breezy reads. The older books (early 1980s) are the ones I'm familiar with, they'll have a white spine with red lettering. These also include weapons profiles on the inside back cover. The one book to get if you want to get some background info on Mack Bolan is #63, "The New War Book" which has some short stories not found anywhere else and some ghost-written "Fan Letters" which are a hoot! The original author, Don Pendleton was happy to let a stable of writers churn out the tales, and you can find out who wrote a given story by checking out the copyright page, where the publishers give thanks to such and such a person. The New War Book also has a blueprint of Bolan's base of operations, which I particularly loved. This website is the best for Bolan info:

As for the comic, I've heard of it but never seen it.
