James Bond Mystery SOLVED: Maud Adams Found In A View To A Kill?

ok... we have talked about her before being in AVTAK and many thought she was in the Street Car. But this Interview with John Glen he gives more details and clues & because of it I was right ( I believe)

Question: Tell me about the Maud Adams cameo in A View to a Kill.

Answer: We were shooting at Fisherman

Not sure whether or not a screen capture violates copyright laws (probably does) but I can safely say that I found it. For thosew with the dvd, she's visible from around 1:00:34 to 1:00:41.

My God....

WAY TO DO THE RESEARCH!

The lady herself (at Spyfest) stated she was wearing black and sunglasses.

*reviews DVD per G's time-frame*

I'm in on this one. I'm going 90% that the lady in that scene IS our lovely Maud.

Yet another great bit of Bond lore confirmed by CBn.

Nicely done 4UEO!

Just checked it myself and it could very well be Maud. Certainly looks enough like her. Nice catch!

For those interested the character in question appears at approx. 1:00:36.

I always thought she was taller than that, unless the guy next to her is giant?

Still looks like it could be a good contender.

Looks like it could be her, but hasn't she always said that she was on the tram?

She looks a little bit like her, but not enough to convince me that it's actually her.

There is also an incorrect rumor in the Bond fan community that Martine Beswick was in three Bond films: "Dr. No" in the titles, "From Russia With Love" and "Thunderball". Her page on imdb.com lists these three films as well. However, when I asked her about "Dr. No" she emphatically denied it. "No, no, no! Not true!"

Then there's Eva Rueber-Staier who played Gogol's secretary Rubelvitch in "The Spy Who Loved Me", "For Your Eyes Only" and "Octopussy". But that's as relevant as playing Miss Moneypenny.

No, that's not Maus Adams. But look closely at that woman in white/red/brown with the high cheekbones and long brown curly hair!

She (and one other woman) is holding hands with a man in sunglasses and blue jacket.

That's gotta be Maud :)

Somewhere I have a tape recording from a 1985 Entertainment Tonight (or one of those shows) that visited the set of AVTAK duirng this shoot. Maud is there and part of the interview. If I can find it, I'll have a look to see what she's wearing.

There's also a pic in a book somewhere, I think.

Great stuff!

in October 2002, the french fan-club CLUB007France organised a 007 convention with Maud Adams as a guest.
I had the luck to spend two days with her and interview her.
I asked her about this story. She told me what John Glen explains in this interview. But she said too that she never could see herself in the movie.
And she finished saying she thinks the fact she appears in 3 Bond movies is probably an urban legend.

Oddly enough, I've always though and finally became convinced she appeared furtively in a car... :)
Thanks for this info!

I think that you might be right. She appears to be just the right height relative to Roger Moore. The other woman in the background could be Maud, but her hair is too light, and she does seem a little short, (but she could have dyed her hair, and had a tall boyfriend)

The brown haired woman you're talking about, you can see her better it other shots in that same scene, doesn't look like Maud Adams to me at all -- he face isn't the same.

At first I also thought that was her but it's definitely where the story says it is. I'm sure of it. :)

Thanks for pointing this out. I would have never guessed where she was in the movie on my own. I am still shocked that you managed to find her among the crowd and it dark glasses. But John Glen's clue probably helped a little.

I'll have to play the VHS too to see if she's just as visible on that, as she is on the DVD.

I don't see either of the women discussed as being Maud Adams. I've a good eye for these things, and I just don't see Maud there.

I could be wrong. But I don't think so.

It's still possible she's somewhere in the Fisherman's Wharf sequence.

Or perhaps on the cutting room floor.

This is interesting. Because in Maud's IMDB profile, she has an uncredited role as "Woman In Streetcar" in AVTAK.

See for yourself:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000726/

16. View to a Kill, A (1985) (uncredited) .... Woman in Streetcar
... aka Ian Fleming's 'A View to a Kill' (1985) (UK: complete title)

I'm guessing that's the general term they gave her perhaps, if maybe they never caught her exact cameo. Maybe she was on the streetcar also or not, that's where I always thought she was. However, now I'm led to believe where she is revealed in this thread.

It is possible that she was in a streetcar and then she got off and walked down the warf. So, the credit would be technically correct -- but the film of her getting off was left on the cutting room floor. It's possible.
