No, seriously, it's a great Bond. Has the best villain and best fight scene. Nice looking Bond girl, too.

Very, very good!
The neverending finale is very good in this film, first the train, then the helicoptor and the boat.
And did anyone mention the gypsy fight?

That's the thing with FRWL that makes it unique. You have to be patient with it and you'll be rewarded if you give it a chance. That fistfight on the Orient Express will likely never be topped. I'd give every minefield chase, ice chase, plane fight or any other action scene in recent years for something nearly as exciting as that.

It's my favorite Bond as it really was made in the era it was written and is IMO the most accurate film based on Fleming's work.
and Yes, I'm certain that it IS in fact Mr. Ian Lancaster Fleming standing by the tracks watching the train pass when it doesn't stop for Kerim's son.
Too many fine moments and when you watch the "Inside" doc on the DVD, you realize how much of a near disaster the film was and how some clever post work saved it and churned it into the great Bond film that it is.
Glad to hear Righty. Your one hell of Bond fan!

They often talk about remaking it, which I think would be a mistake.

This surprised me as well, Bryce. I had no idea FRWL was such a "troubled" production. But sometimes this works in a film's favor. Gone With The Wind anyone?Too many fine moments and when you watch the "Inside" doc on the DVD, you realize how much of a near disaster the film was and how some clever post work saved it and churned it into the great Bond film that it is.

Well John Glen for one said on countless occasions that he wanted to remake From Russia With LoveOh. So.... who are "they", then?

Indeed, it took me a bit to get into it, when I first started, but it's magnificent film. The DVD does a very good job explaining the shooting of it, I think I learned the most about that film comapred to any of the others from the main documentary.I too applaude Righty for giving FRWL. But I can understand his not being particularly enthusiastic about in the beginning. He is only 15 (happy belated b-day, by the way, Righty). How many people in that age group would really find a serious spy story with a minimum of fx and outrageous stunts and villains more appealing than some of the ones in recent years like DAD?

Actually, it isn't. I'm not sure if you were on the forums yet when this occured, but during DAD's production, they had a question and answer feature on the official site about the films, and our very own Blue Eyes asked that very question. Turns out it was just some chap who was wearing a similar sweater as Fleming, and the cane he was holding was actually used for herding sheep. Anyway, completely useless bit of information for you there.and Yes, I'm certain that it IS in fact Mr. Ian Lancaster Fleming standing by the tracks watching the train pass when it doesn't stop for Kerim's son.
Good on ya, Righty. You'll start to appreciate the film even more as you get older, likely. I sure did, anyway. It's one of my top 5 favourite Bond films.

I , at the begining didn't liked too , but now I think it's one of the best in the series , if not the BEST ever! Many of you may know that I used to hate From Russia With Love and that it was my least favorite Bond film. After watching it again I have changed my mind about it. I like it and understand it now. It is not my favorite but it is growing on me.
At least , it's the next bond DVD I want to buy!

LMFAO!And did anyone mention the gypsy fight?
(Sorry, I just had to say that)
seriously though: exotic cities, evil chess grandmasters and how about that pre-fight conversation? Shows there's a thin line between being licensed to kill and just being a sociopath.
oh and btw, lotte lenya trained w/ the great Bertolt Brecht, who taught his actors how to do death scene.

Good points. There's one line of dialogue in that whole sequence and just shows it's not necessary for something memorable as what they produced. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.I felt the precredits and the opening scenes were very good, shows that Peter Hunt really could edit it all together well!

Now, and I still love them, but they should try some different things once in a while too, the only goal is outdoing the previous film's sequence.
