Oh, Lord.Oh, guess who the sucker was who paid almost $200 for issue #11?
Yep.
Er, it was for the sake of your article, right? An example of sorts?
Right?

To be honest, in the final heated moments of the auction, I wasn't doing the pounds to dollars translation in my head accurately. I didn't want to pay much more that $100. Whoops.Oh, Lord.Oh, guess who the sucker was who paid almost $200 for issue #11?
Yep.

Right?
But, hey, it has Gardner and the SAAB on the cover! That's worth the extra $80.

Good article, BTW. I should think about joining eBay in the future for Bond stuff.

Anyway I'm rambling, I know that I have a small supply of the magazines etc. hiding away in a box in the garage awaiting a new place in the house (once the bloody carpets turn up and I can move all my precious film related junk back into the house).
I must have a look at them and see what issues they are and I'll report back. From looking at the JBIFC website I'm pretty sure that I have issue 20 with Timothy Dalton and Carey Lowell on the front.

If you have issues 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, or 10...we'll have to talk.Anyway I'm rambling, I know that I have a small supply of the magazines etc. hiding away in a box in the garage awaiting a new place in the house (once the bloody carpets turn up and I can move all my precious film related junk back into the house).

"Goldeneye" was another pretty good 'zine. One of the best of those issues was the in-depth coverage of Albert Broccoli's life. "Bondage" was okay but by modern standards doesn't exactly match up against the other two I mentioned.
With all the books on Bond and such I was thinking that putting all the magazines together in one book would be really something, both in terms of fresh information and rare photographs.
It doesn't really surprise me that the magazines are selling for so much because in a lot of ways they don't get out dated.

By the way, Zencat, did you have a copy of issue 41 for sale on eBaya couple weeks ago? The name on it was Jcox of Marina Del Ray and before I had a chance to bid, it said the auction had closed early.

The first few were just photocopied pages, I believe up to Issue 5 were just stapled pages. No 1 was but a single sheet, albeit double sided.
I'm sure if I was so inclined, I could set up a little cottage industry in running copies off to sell for extortionate rates to desperate collectors. I imagine I would have a window of about 1 month before the market was flooded and all of a sudden, even my aunt would have them in her magazine rack.

Yep, that was me. I had an extra copy. A friend offered to trade me the mag for 3 Turkish Fleming titles that I needed (I'm trying to collect a set). There were no bids so I ended the auction early. Sorry if you intended to bid, Turn. But you can buy #41 direct now from the JBIFC site.By the way, Zencat, did you have a copy of issue 41 for sale on eBaya couple weeks ago? Thank you for your amazing work, MarkA. I've been a fan for years. It's a pleasure to have you here at CBn.I have been involved in the fan club virtually since its conception and being a Graphic Designer have helped Graham Rye doing the Artwork for 007 magazine. I find it incredible and quite gratifying that many of the issues I worked on are now collectors items. I have a complete run, but also some doubles. Not sure which ones but I'll find out.

Another trend I've noticed is that some people are putting old copies of Bondage, the American fan club publication, up for huge prices. Somebody had the last issue for something like $45 or $50.

People are getting greedy. Early copies of BONDAGE are pretty darn hard to find, but later copies are quite easy.I've noticed this too. It seems some of the later issues are being sought after while others are getting fewer bids. I need no. 25, for example, and the last two copies of that that have hit the past few weeks have gone for around $60.

Issue no. 40, the NSNA/CR retrospective issue that came out in early 2002, was up for auction on eBay. It ended up selling for a whopping $51.00 when it ended Monday. I didn't think that was one of the rarer issues, although admittedly I don't see it on there a lot, but I thought that was a bit much for that particular issue.
Maybe the winning bidder read the recent Graham Rye interview in which he said that was his favorite issue and was inspired to own it.

Since I doubt we'll ever see "Making Of" books on these two films, and EON pretty much ignores them, I guess that mag is what fans have to turn to.
I wish I had bought extra copies.
