Got this off Dark Horizons... Looks like Roger is going to be in a comedy called BOAT TRIP with Cuba Gooding Jr.

The film apparently deals with Cuba Gooding Jr. going on a cruise trip and finding out later that it is a gay cruise outing. Craziness ensues! I have no idea what Moore is going to be doing in the film.

I heard about this. Hmmm....Rog appears to be wearing a skydiving jump suit and I'm dead certain that's an altimeter on his left wrist....Maybe there will be an homage to MR.

Supposedly, Moore plays an "elegant gay man." I'm almost fearful of how the film will turn out. (Not that I'm homophobic, but the thought of Roger Moore lusting after Cuba Gooding Jr. IS a little scary)

You know, the 70's have gone and Roger is still wearing strange clothes :)

LOL! Hey Paul...haven't you heard...RM has been lusting after Cuba Gooding Jr. for years. ;-)

Just kidding...but seriously, evidently Roger admires CG quite a bit, and has suggested that young Mr. Gooding play James Bond, if the role ever goes to an African American.

But really...did he have to posture like that? :)

I cannot see Roger as a gay man! I can't believe that the producers can make the second best Bond (Where's Bondpurist hehehe) a homosexual? Its like.. sacreligious! aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Personally, I think it's a great and funny idea myself. I can imagine Roger having a good time with the part.

At least it's not bright yellow this time.:) Seriously though, I think Rog will enjoy doing this part, as mccartney007 said. It's a change for him, and I think it's meant to surprise people like that.

Blah blah blah!

Roger did a superb turn mimicking Graham Norton at the beginning of the So! Graham Norton show. (For our non UK readers, Norton is gay and not a little camp) He totally relished all the flouncing and dancing around, and it was a truly hilarious spectacle to watch.

I can imagine he would have a tonne of fun with the part (of course supposing he plays a gay man)

Bondpurist, I haven't lobbed one off to you for a few days so here goes....Roger Moore at least was fun to watch as Bond as opposed to spending 2 1/2 hrs with the mortician Dalton seemed to be playing.

They show this on BBC America (on Fridays I think) over here in the states. I'll have to watch the listings in advance to make sure I catch Moore's appearance if they ever show it.

Roger Moore does play a gay man in this movie. I imagine his raised eyebrow thing will be totally different for people in this movie.

Roger Moore played Bond like some sort of comedian. Dalton played him seriously Irishcrown. Some people like Moore's lighter approach. Ich mache nicht.

Can we please not bring the Dalton conversation to every thread of the board thank you? This is a Roger Moore forum. So please end it there.

I like Roger, he's a great personality. He's really good at the Cary Grant comedic roles. Seeing him in a comedy ought to be good.

Roger's done some great work for UNICEF and did a lot of travelling on behalf of that organization. He may not be in the prestigious films that Connery had managed to do in his post-Bond career, but Roger's done quite well.

Roger Moore was a nice guy, I am not denying that. But James Bond is a cold hearted bastard. Moore, the joking, laughing, charitable man that he is, may be able to play a gay man in this comedy film, but that says it all really - Moore is a comedy actor and that's how he should of stayed.

I dislike the way you're talking about Roger Moore. Just take the time to check what he's doing for UNICEF since 1991. That's simply wonderful. Have a look at our official Roger Moore Website (allow me to make my own publicity ;-)

By the way, the movie 'Boat Trip' will be aired August 29, 2002 in The Netherlands.

I dislike only Moore's portrayal of 007. Just because he does a load of work for charity doesn't make him a decent James Bond.

Roger Moore is really good at the Cary Grant kind of roles. Ironically enough, they did try to get Grant for Bond early on. Moore was really good in serious parts in Gold and Shout at the Devil. Amazingly enough, Peter Hunt did those films. Amazing coincidence, huh?

James Bond wasn't a Carey Grant kind of role. Moore was good in certain serious parts but obviously didn't take Bond seriously.

Have you ever seen Roger Moore in any non-Bond roles? Honestly, have you? If you have, you might respect him more. He's very, very good.

If that is all, you don't have a lot to room to judge, do you? Gold, Shout at the Devil..check those out...if you still hate him, fine. Until then, you've got some movies to check out.

Lordy, it's only entertainment.

Regardless of whether I believe Roger Moore to be the echt James Bond and true in character to (say) page 138 of the first edition of Live and Let Die or some such piffle, he's always entertained me and if he's still going, good for him.

I would agree with Bondpurist, most of the time, but I admit Moore is a great actor. I especially liked him in Wild Geese. That was kind of like a Dalton-type Bond performance. I don't remember any faffy about or joking in that. After all in the beginning he made some 25-30 year old drug dealer eat his own stuff after Moore realised a young girl (can't remember her age) had taken some of this man's drugs and died. He played that VERY seriously!
