......I think just about every other major vB forum has the option for your own avatar.....

.......why is this not available here, and is there any plan to implement it...?

It is not available on CBn due to copyright restrictions. There are no plans to implement it.

Much like the signatures, the custom avatars would have to be moderated.

Daniel -- some of us want our own pictures OF OURSELVES as the avatar so people can put a face to a name....How can that be copyrighted? Are you suggesting MGM owns pictures of me? :)

I don't recall mentioning MGM in this thread.

The resources simply do not exist to moderate avatars and signatures. If you're desperate to have a picture of yourself put it in your signature.

Okay, that makes a little more sense than all this talk of "copyright restrictions"

If someone [aka: ME] was willing to moderate personal avatars. Could personal avatars be considered? They could be be submited the same way as signature bars or e-mailed (with attachment and cbn name). I'm willing to moderate them and such. Blue Eyes?

Thats a good idea. Why cant we have some of the avitars that other sites have.I just visted ABJ007 and they have more avitars than we do.

OR

can we do a rank thing. The higher the rank the more choices you get with avitars.

I knew what you meant Athena. It makes perfect sense to me and I also will monderate the personal avatars if that helps.

No, neither of you could. You'd both need to have full administrator access to both the forums and to the FTP and have an existing technical knowledge of the CBn Forums.

Makes more sense than a picture of a James Bond actor.

NOT that I would do such a thing. But yes, I think if people are willing to help I think some attention needs to be paid. That's the only thing that frustrates me about this site. I'd like to help out, but no one is listening it seems. I could be very wrong about this.

I don't think Daniel will change his mind on this issue, but I don't think it should be dismissed either. It's obviously something that more than just a couple of CBners would like to see.

Oh I don't think he will either, persay. But I too have seen it mentioned more that a few times not just in this thread. So yes, I agree, this is something that should be looked at.

It just is not going to happen anytime soon. The process of moderating and installing only moderated custom avatars is more complicated and requires higher level access than it is for signature graphics. At this point that puts the chore on either Dave, Daniel, Greg, or myself. Each of us already have many things that take up our time on CBn. Things that we feel will do more to continue to improve this site than custom avatars would.

I love the way I get singled out for that.

Can one of the people incessant on custom avatars just throw in a foot stomp somewhere, just for the sake of it. Thanks.

It was just cause you were the one responding to this thread (untill Mr*'s one responce later). I don't think SNOW meant it in a bad/hurtful way, as I certainly didn't.

Of course not...As Athena said it was simply because you had been the CBN Staffer who was responding to this thread.
