Hey everyone,

I thought I would update you all on my current progress on the BSTLW bond fan film Im currently scoring. First off, I've attatched a snippet of the main title that Ive done and it is completely orignal (and free of any copyright material webmasters, dont worry). The song itself has a running time of 3:20 and at the moment is an instrumental until I can track down someone to do vocals. I have attatched a segment from the chorus, the french horn section after the gunshot will accompany the following lyrics:

"Bullets Speak Louder Than Words
Haven't you heard?
It's not as easy.... as it sounds.

Bullets Speak Louder Than Words
Two Shouts... A Shot
Sorry old boy.. you're luck's run out!"

Let me know what you think.

The score itself is going to be released on the web very shortly (the first cd anyway) and Ill post that info as it becomes available. This is high quality music as Ive gotten alot of new orchestral samples, I think you all will love what you hear. The first release of the music will be around 45 minutes or so including several variations of the Bond Theme. The second release (several months down the road) will contain the rest of the music from the film. I refuse to have another DAD scenario music wise, you will most definately be able to hear every note I played that is in the film as well as a few alternates.

You may have to re-think the title!

I think that BSLTW is actually a good title, Kingdom Come. Very much in the Flemming idea of taking a phrase and putting a distinct twist on it.

First of all, the title isnt up to me, it's up to the producers, so complain to them Kingdom. You're the only one that Ive heard yet that thinks the title should change, not surprising since you always seem to disagree about everything I seem to be attatched to.

The title to me sounds like a send-up of the Bond titles. The title makes you laugh, is that what they want?

Well, apparantly, you're the only one who really laughs at the title.

Sorry, not taking your bait to start a fight this time Kingdom.....

Anyway, just talked with the producers and the first of half of the score should be up on the web very soon, I'll keep you all posted.

The title is a bare faced cliche. It's hysterical! It's lazy; it makes you cringe. It's a joke title surely?

I'll admit that at first I didn't like the title, but its grown on me, and lets face it, most Bond titles are cliches.

But I'm not interested in the film itself, I just want to hear more of ur great music Rich.

Looking forward to hearing more, but- and without wanting to seem rude- are you entirely sure its in time? The trumpet strikes near the end seem a bit off the rhythm to me.
Great sound, though.

Sounds on to me, from what I can tell the french horn staccatos are dead on. Keep in mind too that I had very little time to score this project, so if a few things are off it's simply b/c of a time crunch. Glad you like what you hear.

For a preview it's dead good.

What you seem to forget, KC, is that composing is not exactly the easiest job in the world, especially if you can't write music and compose by ear.
And yes, this brings me to a question I had in mind:
if you don't write your pieces, don't you map them out at least? I have really no idea how else you can do this.

I have a good idea how I want each cue to sound in my head, then I proceed to record the track note by note, instrument by instrument. Sometimes I'll wing it as well, try different instruments and different motifs.. if it works, i keep it in the mix. It's a very painstaking (but fun) process for me since I cant write music. Glad you like it!

I've just heard it Rich, very nicely done. :)

It sounded much better though when I upped the bass on my sound card. The percussion sounded a tad tinny, but that could just be my ears.

Thanks guys! Hopefully the rest will be up soon... But for now, here is a small piece of music that accompanies M as she visits Bond in the Brig. It's a very Barryesque piece, i've tried to mix my own style with Barry and Arnold's style throughout the entire score. Enjoy!

The whole thing in some cues, bits and pieces in other cues. Rest assured, the bond theme is plentiful in this score. I cant post those cues on the board due to copyright reasons. Here is a tracklist so far with the proper documentation about what themes Ive used:

1. Gunbarrel - Film Version ( :21) *
2. Into Factory (2:20) *
3. Planting Bombs and Snow Fight (2:16)
4. Exit 007 and Q Board Chase (3:23) * +
5. Main Title - Instrumental (3:20)
6. The Break In - Alternate Version (2:54)
7. M Sees Bond ( :24)
8. The Handover (1:34) * also contains an unreleased motif from Octopussy

9. You're Mine Now Mr. Bond (3:23) *
10. Training Montage and Allgood to Go (2:35) *
11. Bond to Spain (:59) *
12. Spanish Spying (1:12) *
13. Pillow Talk (2:23) *
14. Virtual Deadliness (2:43) *
15. 007 Boards Sub ( :52) *
16. Castle Overture (4:51) *
17. Berriage Darted and Skate or Die (3:37) *
18. Bond Smells A Rat (2:33)
19. Arrival Cues - Suite 1 (1:31)*
20. Gunbarrel - Alternate Version (:24)*
21. The James Bond Theme remix 1(1:33) *
22. 007 - Velocity Remix - The Rich Douglas Orchestra (1:40)
23. The James Bond Theme - S.P.E.C.T.R.E. Remix (2:18) *

* - contains portions of "The James Bond Theme"
+ - contains portions from OHMSS

lol.. As you can see, there will be alot of the Bond theme used. It looks like more than it really is. In many of those marked tracks, it's only a sparse section from the theme or a short motif from the theme and not the entire theme.
