So, where do you stand on the Jinx movie? (YES, NO or DON'T CARE)

I'D LOVE TO SEE THE JINX MOVIE HAPPEN,
or:
I'M BITTERLY AGAINST IT,
or:
I DON'T CARE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.

I'm in the "Don't Care" camp myself. My philosophy is that, if the Jinx movie does go ahead (although I still can't bring myself to believe that it will), then we might as well look forward to seeing what they do with it. Will Broccoli/Wilson produce? Will Peter Lamont do the production design, and David Arnold the score? Will Michael Madsen co-star? It'll give us something to talk about, at least. And who knows? The film might even be good.
That said, I'm not especially keen to see JINX happen. I'd far rather Purvis, Wade and others pressed on with BOND 21.

(Along the lines of Wei Lin's supposed, in DAD)
Does it then become Bond worthy or interim Bond? And if it were to become series, following Brosnan's departure, would they continue to get Brosnan Bond to continue with the cameos or Successor Bond?

Are you really asking Jim that?

Sorry, missed that. Damn dislexia (sp?).
Well then to your question. If there were to be a Brozzie Bond Cameo my answer would change from ‘Don’t Care’ to ‘No’. Save Bond for Bond movies.

'sorl right fella, you could fill a truck with the stuff I miss.
I figure that this would be an unmissable and indeed necessary stunt to perform to sell it on its way. I'm not sure Jinx would be yet big enough to sell by itself so the added enticement of Bond would surely help it to some established familiarity.
I'm actually not sure it would be bad idea. The idea of Bond half way through has been done in a half cocked manner in the literary Spy and it did lend a very heroic feel to the story.
And a couple of those performances and Brosnan could yet say he did Bond seven times (borrowing from the recent "five is all" story).

Don't care, I'll let it all wash over me until/if it goes ahead and is filmed.
Hmm.....I'm a little more negative about a current Bond cameo though, that's just having to trade off the merits of the character in a film that's already supposed to have a strong leading woman.
Though I didn't see anything special regarding Jinx as a character in the first place, like MarkA said, she was underwritten and if it wasn't Berry playing her, she'd just be consigned to the trivia files. I'd rather just see her turn up in a future Bond film.

There is really no reason apart from trying to make some extra money on the back of Bonds success for this film to exist. Purely a cynical money making exercise. Why don't they just concentrate on making the next Bond as great as possible. You all know the Jinx film is going to be ****. Just don't bother.

I agree. And that's why I really can't believe they're serious about making a Jinx solo movie, regardless of how big a star Berry may be. Michelle Yeoh may not be so well-known in the States and Europe, but I'd have had far less trouble believing in stories of a Wai Lin film, for the simple reason that the Wai Lin character was more novel, engaging and worthy of her own show than Jinx. What was Jinx but a less resourceful and cool, and altogether inferior, version of Wai Lin?
So here's a little conspiracy theory: what if this much-trumpeted Jinx script that P&W are said to have completed is actually the BOND 21 screenplay? What if Berry is being courted not to star in a Jinx film, but to once again co-star with Brosnan in a Bond adventure?
What if - indulge me - The Powers That Be are hoping to make BOND 21 something along the lines of a Bond-and-Jinx buddy movie? Let's say that the pair start BOND 21 where they left off at the end of DIE ANOTHER DAY, in other words as lovers, but split up before joining forces again as allies on a new mission, both of them romancing new faces.
Sounds improbable, doesn't it? Well, yes, but isn't the idea of a Jinx spinoff film even more improbable? Isn't it the case that Michael Madsen has already signed to appear in BOND 21 as Falco? That suggests that plot threads from DAD may be carried over, so perhaps plans are afoot to bring back the character of Falco's star employee, Jinx, too.

If it goes ahead and it's a hit, all good and well, but if it's a turkey, well I won't be worried about it other than the fact that its bad press may affect the next Bond movie.
If it turns out to be a turkey, I can imagine the headlines: "Jinx Stinx" or "Halle Buried."

But if there is, I maybe somewhat disgruntled by the idea.

I wonder if MGM is assuming that we (the hardcore Bond fan) are a guaranteed audience for Jinx? I'm not sure they should assume that, especially looking at this poll. Heck, I'm as hardcore as they get, but I'm as indifferent to Jinx as I was to James Bond, Jr. I don't see myself turning out on opening weekend (but I will buy the novelization for the book collection).

If it's made, I'd probably see it. If it's not, I'd get over it. My main focus is Bond 21. If it is made, I hope there is no delay in Bond 21 production.
