The Nightfire Editor (GearCraft) won't be released EVER! It sucks. I can't believe Gearbox isn't releasing the editor just because the game didn't sell as many copies as they thought it would.

I was looking forward to making my own levels and characters! BUT they took it away from all the people who love modelling and editing maps. If anyone wants to go to the Gearbox Software forums and protest, go to www.gearboxsoftware.com

It's a shame that game developers have not realized how important expansionable gameplay is to maintaining continuous income residual. Even with these people using a engine based on one of the most successful modifiable game enterprises they still can't see this. I believe any game released today is not a complete game if it is released without mod tools. Will Rock may very well die at the premiere month and all they can say is "We are mulling over this - it means some work on our side, but if the demand is strong.....:-)".

A simple unpacker for the assets file along with a folder explanation would have been great but no we had to break the file down piece by piece and rapidly lose interest moving on to other more editable games thus cutting down any revinue from gamers wanting to try out mods. After all how many people want to spend money on a game that gets old after the first game play? That's why so many people rent console games instead of buying them. An SDK utilizes fan base to front the cost of expanding the game while the developers get the continued income that can only be realized on the PC.

I wonder if this was Gearbox's decision or EA's? Hell, maybe it was even MGM? They're the ones that came up with the ridiculous "'good' characters can't be against other 'good' characters" rule.

yeah. they planned to release it when Condition Zero was released. Well, CZ HAS been released, but no editor. this really sucks. oh well, i'm way in the middle of editing GTA3 + Vice City for PC. At least you CAN edit them.
