Where are all the LALD fans at? According to the poll, it is the worst liked Moore Bond film here! I voted for OP, but I think LALD is in my top three of the Moore films.

yes that is surprising?? Live and let die is very good.. surprising Moonraker got that many.. when it wasn't going to be made.. IF george lucas didn't start the space trend.. also it is the spy who loved me in space.. not water.

but hey everyone has different taste:)

I am glad to see that I am not alone in liking A View to a Kill...my favorite Roger Moore Bond movie is The Spy Who Loved Me, but AVTAK is a close second.

I think I remember you posting on it :)
I remember reading the 1985 "Starburst" review of "A View to a Kill" by the acclaimed film critic John Brosnan (who actually wrote the respected 'James Bond in the Cinema'). He had heard all the bad press about AVTAK and went to the screening prepared to suffer. Then, he said that he actually enjoyed it a great deal and thought Moore looked better than in 'Octopussy'. He rated it as one of Moores best 007 outings.

I'm a tad surprised there are only 85 votes after this time.

I wonder if another choice should be included: "I don't like any of the Roger Moore Bond movies," because that last choice, which no one has voted for, may be too severe in suggesting that the Moore movie can't be called Bond movies.

A lot of people may not be voting because they don't agree with any of the choices currently on offer.

I think LALD is so low on the number of votes because it is a slightly unremarkable Bond movie. With TMWTGG, MR and AVTAK you have three of the most maligned movies of the series that people who have them close to the top of the list may vote for them. I think TSWLM is my all time favorite James Bond movie, but AVTAK is my second favorite so I voted for that.
LALD on the other hand has few critics...it is just kinda there! :)

Welcome to this forum..
Great handle by the way, "Goldeneye" was Pierce's best 007 outing (that's even Brosnans preference) so you show exceptionally good taste. :)

For Your Eyes Only. The first Bond film I saw in a theater. I fell in love with Carol Bouquet. She's my favorite Bond girl. I liked everything about it, even Bill Conti's score. And no explosions in the finale! yay!

When I first saw "For Your Eyes Only" I was really underwhelmed by the finale. I was 9 years old and still had fond memories of seeing "Moonraker" in the movie theater. Over the years however I have come to appreciate Rogers fifth outing more and more. It now ranks close to the top and although Barbara Bach will always be my favorite Bond girl, Carole Bouquet is close to the top.

Bill Conti's music in the chase ski/motorcycle scene to this day is amazing!!! the music pumps me up :)

I love that chase scene.. I think it is the best one in any action movie!! thats all real.. no cgi in that scene Pierce & Cubby's Kids :)

I still can't believe they actually put CGI in a Bond movie:confused::mad::)

It is a great scene...Its much better than the lame, stilted badly conceived and utterly unconvincing parahawk scene in TWINE.

I'm partial to Octopussy for two reasons:

1, While TSWLM is very good, it still is essentially You Only Live Twice with subs. Great, but not the best.

and

2. Octopussy is an almost perfect blend of light hearted thrills and serious action.

Octopussy is a better version of Goldfinger!! not the plot.. but the feel!

Octopussy plays the "007 Mega Hit" Blueprint better then Goldfinger! The Movie plays better..

Thank you

John Glen for being the best at making every range of 007 film :)

Thats interesting. More often AVTAK is compared to "Goldfinger".

Whatever its faults you have to admit GF had a great henchman in Oddjob.

Yeah I think AVTAK is a great modern up to date version to Goldfinger (plot only)

But Goldfinger has that great mix of fantasy and fun! Everything! the reason we go to the theater..

Octopussy has that too.. and I feel it is the best at that type of Bond film..

Plus it holds up today! 20 years later :) Just like Goldfinger does even today.. you know it is a classic :)

I think the AVTAK - GF comparison is partly because of the scene in the airship with all the industrialists.
