Okay, maybe it's not the most creative poll, but I love making these polls and it will be interesting to see percentages here. So everyone vote!

I'm taking this one seriously, so I voted for GOLDENEYE instead of THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR.

zencat, I've been trying to set up polls of Best Bond Film Ever and Worst Bond Film Ever. I know you gave me advice on where to look for instructions, but I can't seem to make head nor tail of them. Is it the case that the option to post polls only comes around every so often to members? Can staff members post polls whenever they like?

Would you mind setting up a Best/Worst Bond Film Ever poll on my behalf?

I went for Tomorrow Never Dies.

The opening sequence, the Hatcher/Brosnan scenes, Kaufmen, Carver's comedy, the Hamburg action, the MUSICAL SCORE, the final scene. Everything apart from the bike chase was superb.

Edited to add - As "The Thomas Crown affair" re-make was quite a good film, I would have gone for Brosnan's "Grey Owl" as the comedy non-Bond film in that poll.

Hmmmm...maybe it is just an option for staff members. I'm not sure. When you go to the normal post page, look near the bottom. Do you have a little check box there that says, "Post a poll"? Select it and the click "Submit." A new window will come up with the poll layout.

I'd be happed to post a best Bond film poll for you, but I think you can only have 10 maximum choices so I'm not sure how to lay it out. Also, let's not flood the boards with too many polls at the same time. But we can do a best Connery and best Moore maybe? I'm not really a fan of topics that seek out the 'worst' films, etc. Too negative.

I voted for TCA, that being said, I really think his best work to date is "Evelyn."

Yes, he made a movie called "Evelyn" and it was even out recently. You might have missed it though, because the major studio that released it didn't seem to have its whole heart into promoting it.

Best Connery (including NSNA) or Best Moore sound good. How about Best Bond Director (nine names, or ten if you include NSNA's Irvin Kershner)? I'll leave it up to you, zencat, but I'm enjoying these polls and wouldn't mind seeing a couple more.

And maybe to make a Moore poll more interesting we should exclude TSWLM (because I see this a too obvious a choice for "best"). What do people think of this idea?

I voted for THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH.

It's the Bond film that revived my interest in the series after TND sent it astray. Didn't even know anything about TWINE until I saw it, then I was floored. That's how much TND made me lose interest in the series. Normally, I'm trying to read up on a film I'm interested in.

THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR, was wonderful though. THat rare remake that far eclipses the original. God, I love John McTiernan...

I say include THE SPY WHO LOVED ME. Sure, it's an obvious choice, but I'd find it a little strange to exclude it. It would be tantamount to conceding its superiority (not very democratic;)) and creating a poll for the second best Moore film.

In any case, MOONRAKER is a firm favourite for many, and FOR YOUR EYES ONLY and OCTOPUSSY would also give TSWLM stiff competition. Personally, the Moore film I'd vote for would be none of those, so I'd say there's scope for TSWLM to be dethroned.

Let me see.... We've got seven choices for Best Film. Choice number eight could be:

- Sorry, you misunderstand, I'm interested in Ian Fleming's James Bond, you know, the one who's been played by four other actors.

- They're all the same, aren't they?

- Was he actually alive when he made A VIEW TO A KILL?

Or something a little funnier along those lines.

Polls aren't really that much fun unless there's a twist -- but a twist that is still a resonable choice. Like including Thomas Crown. I sometimes feel that is a better "Bond film" than any of PB's actual Bond films. choice. Like including Thomas Crown. I'm now thinking of a dalton poll along slightly different lines. Something like, "Which Dalton film better captures the spirit of Ian Fleming?" I think that's a good way to go, but still looking for the twist.

You're getting carried away with these fella - but you're right, they're fun little things and it's nice to see where the trends are going as opposed to just lots of people shouting at each other in the boards saying, "this one's best, no this one's best...."

It nice to have the evidence of percentage in front of your eyes. And I like forcing people to take stand on just one. No more, "well, my top three are..."

I went with The World is Not Enough because I've been watching it a lot recently. I've read so many negative things about it from so many people at CBN, and I've really been amused by the criticisms. I laugh at the Bond/Elektra/M melodrama. I think the bad parts are fun to watch. Maybe Elektra isn't fun to watch, but fun to laugh at maybe. I think she's ugly, but I appreciate that the series tried to make a serious movie sort of. They failed miserably, but what's funnier than failure? The movie still made a ton of money. Brosnan looks pretty good. The eye candy of Christmas Jones appeals to my inner teenager, and her navel compensates for her bad performance. It's simply 007 meets Mystery Science Theater 3000 for me. It does have some good action to go along with its bad attempt at character development. Oh well. Love these polls by the way.

Interesting all the negatives about TWINE and it is a second at the moment . one would have thought GoldenEye . Another overblown Bond film like Connery's Goldfinger, would be first hands down.

I also went with TWINE because it was the first one I saw in theatres, and I think that sort of has an impact on you. Brosnan had his Bond role nailed down by this point, and it was an overall good film. And for the twist on the Moore poll, why not put in The Saint?

TCA! Great story, great score and Brosnan is so confident and comfortable in it. With the exception of GE, his Bonds are average.

Jolly old Roger Moore's best film out side of TSWLM ,was "GOLD" directed by Peter Hunt. Hunt was offered the Director's chair for TSWLM. But alas refused. It a shame since he , and he alone could get Moore to act. Hunt also directed some of the early "Persuaders" with Tony Curtis.

GoldenEye all the way!!! Everything else came in second. I think the more i see a Bond movie the more I like it is my opinion I think is going to change when DAD comes out on DVD.

Except for the Tomorrow Never Dies anomaly his Bond movies seem to be getting better and better. Bond 21 should be a rip-snorter based on this trend.

Its'a real struggle for me which I like better, GE or DAD. I'm with you, WarBird. A dvd showdown may be needed to decide the matter.

I voted for TWINE. For me it was Brosnan at Bondian maturity. Goldeneye seemed a bit too much action, so was DAD.

About the Roger Moore poll-twist how about his role in CannonBall Run as the Jewish guy who thinks he's 007 complete with fast car?
