Just a quick note to say that Rosamund Pike has won the "Best Newcomer" award at the Empire Film Awards tonight (www.empireonline.co.uk).

This will be shown in about an hours time on Sky Premier (UK).

It's well-deserved, I think. She was probably the best thing (aside of Pierce Brosnan) in Die Another Day.

Toby Stephens anyone? The best Bond villain ever.

Through no fault of her own, Rosemund's part in DAD wasn't particularly worthy of great acting praise. Bond roles are usually tough but they aren't Shakespeare.

That said, Miss Pike was still a huge bright spot in the film. She has a unique look about her and a great future. On those ground alone, perhaps she deserves that award.

I thought she was terrible in "Die Another Day" and probably the least attractive Bond girl in the series.

I really don't think your opinions on whether you liked her or not in the film were the desired response of this post...

Good for her, I hope we see her more (which is doubtful)

the main page has an error

It says that the only other nomination was the sword fight, this is not true

Hally Berry was Nominated for best actress for DAD
Lee Tamahori was nominated for best Director for DAD

these I know for a fact, 100%

also, I think the film was nominated for Best film, but lost to LOTR

Cheers. I missed Halle Berry, but there's no Best Director to be seen;

Sam Raimi (Spider-Man)
Peter Jackson (The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers)
M. N. Shyamalan (Signs)
Steven Soderbergh (Ocean's 11)
Steven Spielberg

Pike's film debut in Die Another Day was not bad - i saw a clip of her recieving the award and she was quite simply dumbstruck by the whole thing. Still, well done Pike
