That's tragic, he was so young and still no doubt had plenty of songs still to write.

He provided the best possible introduction to Craig's reboot and YKMN gets even better with age imo. Black Hole Sun is an all time classic and unique.

RIP.

I'm shocked by this news. You Know My Name is such a great Bond song, and Chris himself also seemed like a great guy. Gone way too soon.

RIP.

Not sure where to post this, so thought I'd add it here.

Quite unexpected! R.I.P. Chris, thanks for a great Bond song.

Got to see Cornell in concert solo as part of a festival bill and he put on a great performance (he also did "You Know My Name" live, which didn't get much of a reaction but he seemed to enjoy performing it).  Enjoyed Audioslave and I need to listen to more Soundgarden stuff.  Dude has a fantastic voice and came back pretty strong after some vocal issues he had performing live.

I believe he's the first person to sing a Bond opening theme to pass, which is kinda surprising since a big group of the former singers are in their 70s now and Bassey is 80.

Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Nancy Sinatra, Paul McCartney, Lulu, Carly Simon, Sheena Easton, Rita Coolidge, Duran Duran, A-ha, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow, Garbage, Madonna, Jack White/Alicia Keys, Adele, and Sam Smith are all still alive.

Lani Hall (Never Say Never Again) is also alive.

Matt Monro has been dead for quite a while, but he only sang over the ending credits in From Russia With Love.

I was a little young to be into Soundgarden in the '90s, but I was a huge fan of Audioslave's first record which prompted me to get into Soundgarden later in life. And of course, "YKMN" is a terrific Bond theme. What a painful loss.

It is now being ruled a suicide. That's a punch in the gut.

The last song he played was Led Zeppelin's "In My Time of Dying."

Sad and unexpected.  He was in the middle of the tour.  Loved his Bond song, great voice.

RIP to a talented artist. Very sad indeed.

His Bond theme was perfect for CR, just the right tone and goosebumps at the end at that close up of Craig.

That is a kind of a bizarre fact. I mean, I'd still count Munro (pretty much because it appears in all the compilations), but even as only the second it's still surprising.

Yes I was thinking that as I heard the news.

RIP, he was a great singer and showman. "You know my Name" is one of the best Bond themes and I also get goosebumps when watching the titles sequence. I also loved Soundgarden's  "Black Hole Sun" which is a fantastic song.

He sang you know my name very Excellent. He did well in the Casino Royale them. Daniel Craig has given his tribute to the singer. He will be sadly missed
