Not sure if this has been posted here before, but I just came across this interesting clip where Roger made a guest appearance as James Bond in the comedy series Mainly Millicent. Of course it is mainly played for laughs, but still fascinating to see a young Roger tackling the role. Thoughts?

Never knew about this, haven't even heard about it. Quite a find, thank you!

I can see how Moore came to the role here - although his depiction is very different from Connery's. Actually I don't think I would have liked him as 007 from the start. He was a brilliant Simon Templar and a fine Lord Brett Sinclair; overall I think he came to Bond at the right time.

Thanks for the tip; I rarely watch such bonus materials.

It's been available for ages. It's on the Live and Let Die Blu Ray under Special Features>Declassified: MI6 Vault.

It was rumoured at that time when Roger Moore was cast as Bond ( I read that gossip at that time) that Broccoli wanted him to cast earlier but could not because of Roger Moore's commitments including as Simon Templar.

Remarkable!

He plays it like John Cleese.
