Morbid topic?  Yes.

But, as we older Bond fans face the inevitable, one ponders, would there be a Bond song you would include in your funeral?

As I face the dark void (aged 50+), I am beginning to put these things in order.  The more I plan, the less heartache my survivors have to endure.

As I sip a cold bourbon, and tug on a 3-gold-bander, I contemplate how my demise should be arranged.

I consider Adele's SKYFALL to be played along with video and still shots of my life (although I prefer Thunderball, it would be inappropriate).

Other music would follow, with other images on the screen.  But I really dig the idea of putting a stamp of what brought me happiness in my life, at the end of my life.

So, I ask, for us old geezers, you ever thought about adding a little 007 to the final mix?

How about Live and Let Die

Good one!  And from my teen years.  The bang and thunder of the tune would definitely add emphasis.  Much more livelier than my Adelle concept, for sure.

I too am at the the fifty-plus point - when even with improvements in medical science I probably still have more years behind me than ahead of me.

As a straight, currently single chap, I'm hopeful of finding a partner - very optimistic at the moment - and I'd have "We Have All The Time In The World" played for "us" at as they carried me into church. Besides, as well as being a fan of James Bond and John Barry, I'm also a fan of jazz music, of which Louis Armstrong was a fine exponent.

But my friends know my sense of humour - in six months I've become the drollest of politicians in the council chamber. Therefore my final farewell has to end with Nancy Sinatra's "You Only Live Twice" - more in hope than expectation! ;-)

If I were a cool dude who lived in New Orleans, I'd want the Dejan Olympia band to perform a second line in my honor a la LALD.

A more likely scenario: Four Tet's "Crawl, End Crawl" as they empty my wallet and throw my corpse in the dumpster.

(I'm only kidding - sorta)

I already have 'We Have All the Time in the World" on a CD with a couple of other songs which encapsulate my life, specifically for the (hopefully far-off) day. No surprise there, except that I've chosen the Iggy Pop version from David Arnold's "Shaken and Stirred" project. If four songs seem like too much, my instructions are to drop this one.

What a great topic! Never thought about including Bond in my funeral but it is a brilliant idea.  Gut reaction is to include "Live and Let Die".  But this is an idea worthy of more than just a fleeing thought.

Being a woman, the next question is what Bondgirl (woman, lady, etc) gown would be most fitting for that final viewing?

If I could raise from the dead during my funeral, Die Another Day would be appropriate.

Experience indicates the overwhelming majority of deceased doesn't much care what kind of music, if any, is played at their funeral. I strongly suspect I won't mind either, so they can play whatever my heirs find fitting. Personally I would prefer if they just picked something by Miles Davis or Tom Waits. Or the Stones.

"Another Way To Die" from QoS.

I won't be happy unless EVERYONE at my funeral is crying.

I just watched Adele's New York TV special on NBC, and guess what?  She sang SKYFALL.  Absolutely wonderful.  (must be a sign?)

At my church, the choir sings music both requested by and representative of the deceased. We had one person who word for Buick for years, so the choir sang a Buick commercial. For me, the Bond song most fitting would be Goldfinger, as it started it all for me. But I am not comfortable with the line "it's the kiss of death from Mr. Goldfinger," so I have given instructions to use You Only Live Twice. It's a lot more lyrical and fitting for a service.

The father of a friend is a big Bond fan. He told me once that he has arrangements already in writing at a funeral home that state that every single Bond film must be screened at the funeral home before his funeral begins. He is then to be buried in a black tuxedo holding a replica PPK.

I have no such plans.

My wife and I had "For your eyes only" at our wedding.

I programmed the music at my recent wedding and managed to slip in Bahama Island, Welcome to Cuba, Tiffany Case & DAF instrumental, Try & All the Time in the World instrumental, The Look of Love and several Bossa Nova tracks from The Liquidator.

Considering the playlist was almost four hours long I think that qualifies as restraint on my part.

Hummm...pretty dress but I know know about that neckline.   Plus, if memory serves, that one is a night gown. A pretty night gown, but still.

This one might be the one...2DAA721A00000578-3284481-image-a-98_1445

Tight in all the right places and I like beads.

I think it's a perfect song to honour someone, and one of the most well known for hardcore and casual Bond and film fans as not to isolate anyone, plus they'd know it was pure Bond.

Has to be 'Nobody Does It Better'.  :)

Only if the mortician dials it down in mid-refrain, mutters "may his soul rest in peace" and walks away abruptly.

............... the karaoke version of Writing's on the Wall ........

Thank you, Walecs, the karaoke version (instrumental, symphonic, etc) of the SPECTRE theme song of amazing. I still had problems shunning the vocals from my mind, but the music itself is great, true Bondian.
