On the train, Madeleine tells Bond how her father taught her about guns and prepared her to kill. She said he kept the gun hidden under the sink beside the bleech. I know it's only a small thing, but this is one of my favourite moments in the entire franchise. The juxtoposition of the mundane and the murderous makes it a truly compelling image.

Given her efficiency with guns, and though Hinx is dispatched rather neatly with those barrells, I half-wish they had let Madeleine kill him with the gun. It would have been a change for the girl to do it instead of Bond and also quite ironic given how he had gone through most brutal fight in the whole series.

It wouldn't have been the first time Bond has been saved by a woman while in a deadly struggle -- the climaxes of FRWL and TB come to mind, so it wouldn't be a bad thing.

I think they may also have been leaving it open for Hinx to possibly come back in another film.

I agree it would have been good to see Madeleine kill Hinx - maybe it would have acted as a way to further cement her and Bond's relationship? But, I do have a suspicion they have left it fairly open for a reason with Hinx. Perhaps they are working towards another Jaws type character??

I liked what the film had, to be honest. Just like LTK's cocaine grinder sequence. Pam wounds Dario, buying Bond enough time to finish the job. It's still teamwork and I find Bond doing the deed more satisfying.

I agree Sharpshooter. I don't think we've seen the end of Mr. Hinx.

Also, I'm not sure if this qualifies as a save, but Vesper aids Bond in Casino Royale's stairwell fight scene. She yanks the gun away from Obanno so that he has no chance of shooting Bond. (Vesper does save Bond later on, of course, in the poisoning scene, and then, as M explains, by bargaining to spare both their lives after Mr. White kills Le Chiffre.)

I'm not sure - I guess it could go either way. I wouldn't mind if he returned to be honest, and fleshed the character out a bit more.

Agreed, DavidJones. The juxtaposition is indeed very effective and very Bond. And Seydoux delivers the dialogue very effectively.
