Didn't know there was a steelbook at Best Buy.  Bought the Target version today.  Remember back in 2007 when Target, Best Buy, Circuit City (RIP) all had different collectibles for Casino Royale?  i still have the mini book, toy car, and coin from those.

Guess I'm going to Best Buy tomorrow ... sigh.  Whatever happened to Bluray/DVD combo packs?  Is everyone really watching these movies on phones, ipads, and tablets now?!

Yeah, I miss those days when you got some small token that went along with it. Those coins were especially cool. Even QoS had a calendar with the Wal Mart exclusive box DVD. It just sweetened the deal just a little more.

Sucks that the Target in my town just closed last week. Now I have to travel out of town to pick up the exclusive Blu, although I have a Best Buy in my town. Steelbooks don't mean anything to me. I want the content.

Again, it sucks that even films like Love the Coopers have as much bonus material on its Blu-ray as blockbusters like SPECTRE and Skyfall.

And I've never watched nor wanted to watch a film on anything but a big-screen TV.

The Spectre blu looks gorgeous on my custom-calibrated "Cinema" setting on my TV. The look it gives the movie isn't really true to how it looked in the cinema, but it goes to show how with some slight adjustments to the grading, it could have been quite beautiful indeed.

My TV too has a 'Cinema' feature so I'm hoping I won't be disappointed when the Blu-Ray hits UK markets!

So a director's commentary is out of question in this one? what a shame

My TV's default "Cinema" setting is a bit drab. I had to tinker with it by adjusting the saturation, brightness, and contrast levels.

Hmm I might even watch with the standard Sony 'Cinema' setting just to see how it was intended to look. Then if it needs altering I suppose I could for future viewing... would be nice not to have to though!!

Well, that was a poor film.

I thought the colour palette was okay. The amber tinting was a bit heavy in a few scenes, but it looked alright for the most part.

Hubby and I finally got a chance to watch our Blu-ray this past weekend. I feel like I'm in the minority on this, given the comments I'm reading here, but I still love this film. Yes, it has some shortcomings, some aspects that didn't satisfy me as much as its predecessors. But all in all, we both enjoyed it tremendously. Mind you, I paid little attention to the issues that were publicized prior to SPECTRE's release. I have always wanted to enjoy films on their own merit, without knowing much in advance about them. So I was especially careful not to read too much about SPECTRE. For me, it comes together in a very satisfying way, but I also realize it won't appeal to everyone.

Especially impressive (and something hubby didn't fully appreciate when he watched it on the big screen), was the pre-titles sequence. I realize, having read about it here, that it is an illusion of a single take ... but wow, is it ever a convincing illusion!

I'm with you and can't wait to see the DVD when we get it here in Australia on 9th March. I love this film.

I'll join in with this little re-kindled love for 'SPECTRE' thanks to the Blu-ray, but I enjoyed it and felt it was most "Bond like" out of Craig's era rather than some art-house, genre defining one off like 'Skyfall'. While bits didn't work, on the whole it was an enjoyable romp which I felt had good foundations to work on 'Bond 25'..if that even happens now of course with DC!

I'll be heading out on March 8 to see if the Blu-ray is out early here in Australia. That happens sometimes, and that's how eager I am. I'm a SPECTRE fan.

I'm enjoying this love for SPECTRE. It's all too easy sometimes to critic something, I think it takes a lot more to truly appreciate what was good about a movie.

Being a fanboy I dutifully got my SPECTRE blu ray-copy, of course, because I could not resist to put the steelbook with its great bullet hole cover into my collection.

I will try to watch the film again - like I revisit the others from time to time - and assess it not for what it does not offer and what could have been.  Instead I will concentrate on what is there.

And after my flip-flopping after the first viewing (disappointment) and the second viewing (much more enthusiastic) in the cinema I imagine that a third time on blu ray in the comfort of my home could again influence my opinion positively.

Got mine's yesterday over the post from Amazon. I have the steelbox still sealed for my collection and the normal version with cardboard sleeve for daily use.

Just watched it and although it's still not one of my personal favorites, I like it now more than when I saw it in the cinema (I went to see it three times last year).

Somehow it works better here on my television at home.

I didn't notice the first three times I saw the film how much Hoyt van Hoytema abhors blue skies. Only when I saw the film at the 2nd-run flea pit - and on my blue-ray - did I notice how bleak every outdoor scene is. For this reason I enjoy the London finale much more than many posters on this site; at least the skies were properly dark.

Aii... I discovered a mayor spoiler on the blu ray when I watched it again this night with English subtitles!

I have to warn everybody who didn't watch it already in the cinema NOT to watch the blu ray the first time WITH English subtitles, because they realy are going to spoil it for you.

What's the problem? Well, everytime someone speaks, first you read in capital letters his, or her name.

What did they do? From the first time you see Waltz at the Spectre meeting and he's going to say his first line, you read his REAL name, which normaly you will know an hour or so later in the movie.

This is realy not a good thing!

I think it's rather telling that SPECTRE has sold less than half as many copies in the first week as SF here in the UK.

In fact, it's turned out to be well down on every Craig Bond film.

Casino Royale - 1.395 million

Quantum Of Solace  - 1.2 million

Skyfall - 1.93 million

Compeard to SPECTRE which has shifted 987,000 copies. The first to not sail past the million.

I predict that the drop off from the first week will be steeper too.

There's also the "Craig Collection" box set, which has entered the charts at #8. And the fact that the box set has it's own chart ranking indicates that the sales figures for this aren't taken into account for SPECTRE sales. In other words: I'm fairly certain that SPECTRE actually sailed well past the million.

Nothing to see here...

One has to be fair and take into account that there is a huge drop in DVD sales world wide in general.  The fact that SPECTRE did almost sell one million copies makes it a tremendous seller.

Also, not part of these statistics are the downloads and streamings which is how most people actually watch movies these days.

Not sure there is a real problem there.

DVD sales are down world wide.

Like the Music charts that now consider downloads and playlists as opposed to just single sales, so too now should films sales consider the downloads and all the numerous ways in which one can watch a bought copy of a film.
