A fluff piece with 'AVTAK' Bond girl Tanya Roberts here in UK Daily Mail.

Nothing new, or too relevant, but nice to hear her thoughts anyhow.

Gosh, I really don't want to be mean but.........

It is true that the post-Bond careers of many Bond-girls is, well, minimal at best, though I do feel that it's as much a convenient narrative that's fulfilled than consistently the fact. From Seymour on, a large number have had Bond anchor a decent career, rather than be the high point.

But as for Roberts, well, her acting ability speaks for itself.

I would think her performance in AVTAK, preceded immediately by her turn as "Sheena," is what kept her from getting more leading roles.

A lot of "Bond girls" are chosen for their looks first and their talent second (at best).  Rather than thinking "This is the start of a long career at the top" they should recognize it as a one-time stroke of luck, like winning the lottery.

It's worth noting that (at least in my opinion) so far there's only been one "James Bond" who's gone on to as great a success post-007 as he had while he was in the tux, so the girls aren't exactly singled out, here.  To some extent, Bond is always going to be the biggest thing anyone does.  It's not a case of "Bond ruined my career," but more like "How do you go UP from Bond?"

First of all she's not a realy great actress and second why did she went from gorgious red/brown to blond bimbo hair?

There are a lot of Bond actresses who had an ok or even a realy big carreer after their Bond expierence:

Ursula Andress, Jane Seymour, Famke Janssen, Rosamund Pike, Halle Berry, Michelle Yeoh, Eva Green, Denise Richards, Sophie Marceau, Olga Kurylenko, Gemma Arterton and even Judi Dench.

I think it all, pretty much, goes on the calibre of the actress and their performance in the film. If all they do is scream and be helpless with little to do, in poor Tanya's case, then they're not going to attract much attention.

Compare that to the young potential seen in Jane Seymour and even recently with newcomers like Eva Green, and we see it's not really a curse but a scary reflection of the actors potential which their Bond Girl role pretty much sums up, which is a little unfair.

I'd add Diana Rigg to the above list of actresses who have had strong post-Bond careers. She never seemed that interested in being a big star, but has mostly worked more on her own terms, sticking to projects she seems interested in rather than star-making types of roles.

And she has a key role in Game of Thrones right now.
