I just watched the 4 Bourne films in a row this week-end (believe it or not, I never had before...). They're great high-value entertainment, with solid plot, good pace and direction. So I'm all for a new one, even more so since it seems they have original ideas for this one and don't want to deliver another sequel just for the sake of it (ala Marvel movies ;) ).

I did this very thing myself a couple of months ago - I had seen them before but it was very enjoyable seeing all four in the one weekend. I'm really looking forward to the new one next year.

More plot details leaking out:http://blogs.indiewi...ffleck-20150925

"Damon only teased a few morsels, but suggested Jason Bourne has been hiding and off the radar for 12 years.

'[Bourne] has his memory back, but that doesn’t mean he knows everything. It’s 12 years since Jason Bourne has been on the grid. So we have to answer the questions, Where’s he been? What’s he doing? What gets him going again? So once we solved all that, then we had a movie,' he told the New York Daily News."

Thanks for posting! It makes sense that after the events in "Ultimatum" Bourne would most likely go back to living off the grid...This is getting interesting!

I've enjoyed the movies -- though have not yet seen the Jeremy Renner and Rachel Wiesz one -- but I remain confused.

Perhaps it is the result of Bourn's recollections coming back in bits and pieces, sometimes unreliably.

It seems that the recollections of the specific incident that flipped Bourne out have been presented more than once, in more than one version.

Am I the only one who's had difficulty following it ?

It seemed to me there was a lot of re-tread going on between at least two of the films.

A Bourne history brief.....

Identity starts the ball rolling.  Bourne, the first and best asset in Treadstone, fails his last mission, the Wombosi hit, resulting in his amnesia (2 bullets to the back, cold Mediterranean Sea).

Supremacy retraces Bourne's 1st mission, the Neski mission.

Ultimatum retraces Bourne's admission into Treadstone, aka, The Program.

Legacy... meh

Why did they wait so long? They should have just recast Damon after his last one.

Easier said than done.. Damon and Greengrass weren't interested in doing another film at the time...

Yeah, that's what gave us the rather dull and oddly Bourne-less Bourne Legacy.

Filming where ?  Paddington ?

Will Bourne be fighting a stuffed bear ?

Sounds rather The Avengers-like.  No, not the Marvel avengers !  The marvelous Avengers, featuring new M pitted against first Bond (never mind Barry Nelson, please) and, hey, did I mention The Bride, though without her Japanese Steel ?

After reading the Bourne novels, I see Matt Damon as bad casting. He does not act or look like the man in the books.

Mind you, not sure who I'd have opted for instead.

How far can they go with the "Bourne trying to recall who he is, what he's done, what flipped him out-no-really-THIS-was-the-straw-which-broke-the-camel's-back yada yada yada" ?  "Dazed and Confused" already was taken as a title, but it would have fit...and fit again...and again...

Well, the comic series XIII, which shares many of the Bourne elements, specifically the box-in-a-box-in-a-box trick of the true identity of its hero, went on for 19 books and almost 25 years*. So...

*And actually it continues beyond its initial end in 2007 with a number of spin-offs and now a new storyline.

First footage, title, and teaser poster revealed.

I'm looking forward to the film but the title is lazy and that tagline feels like a steal from Bond.

Not impressed by this teaser at all, I must say.  Bourne knows who he is - uh, not really.  And he still behaves like a brute - drawing attention to him with causing havoc, yet nobody seems to be able to catch him.

More of the same - which basically is the reason why this film got greenlit.  It´s a Bond film without elegance, humour and wit.

That left hook at the end is brutal. I'm very excited. I'm seeing some folks hating on the title but it was probably necessary from a marketing standpoint. The last film had Bourne in the title and he was nowhere to be seen. The title Jason Bourne immediately establishes that this is the real deal and not another spin off. Can't wait.

I'm in two minds about this, I liked the first three films and of course I can imagine why there would have to be another. But was it really necessary? There was a nice circular quality to the films with Damon, I actually prefer if we're not told all of his past (how surprising would that really be in the end? Something tragic and traumatic, most likely...)

I didn't much care for the super-soldier stuff of Legacy but Renner's character was nicely odd in that he wanted his wonder drug to not become a borderline retard again. That aside I think the series already made its point, why bother to go through the motions again? There's not going to be a huge reveal and when the Bourne theme plays at the end of this the corrupt evil suits are still going to be in command of Washington. I doubt there's anything more substantial to it in the end.

I doubt the Bourne films are setting themselves up as educational texts. Rather the ride and entertainment is probably to he forefront of most of their minds. Am sure it will be similarly veined to the forerunners.

No, educational would hardly be criterium for the relative values of the Bourne franchise. Of course it's all about the kicks and fun. For me it's just a bit of a mystery where it's all going - always assuming it's going at all and leaving aside any thought for direction. I would be pleasantly surprised if it turned out to be not just more of the same.
