Ala SkyfallOr, will we be left with a dramatic cliff-hanger-like escape?

The only reason I'm curious is because, to me, it already seems as though SPECTRE is very much going to be a wait-and-see type film. You want Blofeld? Wait and see. You want classic Bond elements? Wait and see. SPECTRE will be the opener for the closer, the appetizer to the main dish. I mean, there is no way the arch finishes in this film and doesn't continue on to the next (and perhaps final) Craig film. Leaving out a major, plot-forwarding action scene and tied in villain death for the climax will surely leave the arch well intact for the next film, as well as leave the audience begging for a solution. Think Blofeld in You Only Live Twice.

Does Oberhauser escape or does he die? He must be vastly important to the arch, if he isn't the big man himself... Right?

I think he escapes.

They could have the villain's fate be somewhat ambiguous, with an incident that could prove either fatal, or, what I'm hoping for, horrifically scarring.

That is, if there isn't already a scar....

I definitely see the events that transpire in Spectre leading into Bond 25. Not necessarily a direct sequel per se.

I reckon there will not be a main villain death in 'Spectre' - this is setting up things for 'Bond 25' I reckon so will need to carry over as much as possible.

I have no doubt that EON won't back themselves into much of a corner with the ending of Spectre. Mendes already demanded they drop the two-parter idea.

But I've no doubt that some story strands will continue into the next film, at least.

If Christoph Waltz is up for doing more than one film, I'd say let him.

Absolutely. It's been quite a while since we had a returning villain.

Besides, to establish Blofeld and then toss him aside would seem odd. Particularly if the next one is indeed Craig's last, as would seem to be the case.

And what if the last few seconds of the teaser are among the last few minutes of the film, ending with Waltz in the shadows?

Then that would be a waste of Waltz.

If Waltz does not return I have an original idea, they could always re- cast Blofeld in the next film. Maybe even dress him up as a lady!

I would like to see SPECTRE end with Bond in bed with a lady.

Not Blofeld dressed as a lady, I hope?

Truth. As a matter of fact, I believe that scene takes place before Bond goes to see Mr. White.

It does according the shot/scene order that we've gathers from the clapperboards and set pictures and such.

It was just a thought. Only to tease a return, with a presumably larger role in the next film.

Of course, I doubt that will be the case as pointed out in scene order.

Wouldn't count on it. I think they feel that would probably jinx the franchise these days!

Or have something like the end of The Spy Who Loved Me, where they announced For Your Eyes Only, but went for Moonraker instead.

My hope would be Waltz returns. If he's you know who, it'd be a waste to set him up and then kill him all in one film.

That's right, although Waltz's line is from much later in the film.

Waltz may be a Largo-like character: #2 in SPECTRE, leading into the reveal of Blofeld in B#25 (a milestone opportunity).

I won't be disappointed either way, as I intend to go into the theatre with no expectations, thereby avoiding:

a ) being disappointed that the film did not live up to my expectations

 or

b ) being disappointed with the film being so 'predictable' because it did.

I'd say that the Rome sequence and the SPECTRE meeting (including that line of course) takes place at the thirty minute mark, or so.

My guess is that the main villain survives and while SPECTRE's plan will be foiled the organization itself survives as well.

I believe so, too. Towards the end of the meeting sequence, not the start as the trailer suggests.

I hope Waltz is you know who, and that he survives. It'd be interesting for the film franchise and as some have said, a waste otherwise, however I also like that it would be true to the books as well. The escape and return (but in a different guise) worked so well in the books.

Bond is a kite dancing in a hurricane...I should think and hope  the villian(s) will survive for 2-3 films to complete a trilogy.
