Sad to read today of the passing of Brian Clemens, a key creative force for The Avengers as a writer and producer, as well as numerous other spy and action genre shows.

He wrote the teleplay of the very first Avengers episode, Hot Snow, as well as the very last, Bizarre. I was surprised at the many other shows he wrote for in the last 30 years or so such as Perry Mason TV movies, the Highlander TV series and even Remington Steele. A very prolific individual. Thanks for the work and rest in peace, Mr. Clemens.

RIP.

I really enjoyed his thriller "And Soon The Darkness" (1970)

Clemens was responsible for countless hours of boyhood fun in front of the telly. He was one of the behind-the-scenes players who entertained generations with his work, creating television cult shows that remain amongst the best to this day.

Agreed. Brian Clemens created a character in John Steed every bit as distinctive on television as James Bond is on screen. I had hours of boyhood fun with The Avengers too - still do, I've got them on DVD!

I forgot to mention he was also responsible for another great 70's thriller, See No Evil, which starred Mia Farrow.

I am currently working my way through the Emma Peel episodes on DVD.

Thank you, Mr. Clemens.

A sad loss indeed, but such a legacy left.

'The Professionals' remains one of my favourite shows ever. Pure quality.

BBC Radio 4 does a half hour programme on Sunday evenings, a kind of collection of obituaries on the radio. Brian Clemens was featured last night. The spot involved past interviews with him and he was asked about his writing style and the way he managed to mix adventure and surrealism in The Avengers. I got the impression from the archive interviews that he had a whale of a time doing it.

And it's great fun to watch too. I've been catching The Avengers every so often on True Entertainment (8pm weekdays). They've just reached the end of series 6 and Emma Peel has said goodbye to be replaced by Tara King.

Whacky and cultured - a sixties classic - and wow, doesn't Diana Rigg look fantastically fabulous and hasn't Linda Thorson got tremendously alluring green eyes.....

Brian Clemens and his creativity is missed for sure.
