Hey everyone! I hope everyone had a fantastic 2014! What are your plans for the transition between 2014/15? Myself, I'm in London with family - drinks flowing, bad TV and watching the fireworks on BBC1 at midnight!

Friends are coming in from out of town, then a road trip New Years Day for all of us to visit another friend in Texas and go see some (American) football together!

Is an American Football game on New Years day a tradition in America? I've read it's big on Thanksgiving.

Hey JCRendle,

I'd be quoting your post, but my work computer sometimes doesn't cooperate with that!

Usually, New Years Day is the date for several college football "bowl" games. These historically are rewards for schools whose squads have had successful seasons and are more than often held in very favorable environments for the athletes to visit (examples: Florida, Texas, California, even the Bahamas this year! Warm climates, so as to counterbalance the fact that you are playing outside in the winter) Thanksgiving is more reserved for professional ranks.

I did not know that - You have the, likely, honour of imparting the last big of new information that I'll be taking from 2014 :D

Recouping from the flu, which I've had since Christmas night, so it's going to be a quiet and low key New Years for me. Still though, think I can manage a martini or two as I watch the ball in Times Square drop on TV! Happy 2015 everyone!!
