The only good thing that I know from the hack is that there will be a bond movie in 2017 .. I didn't read any other stuff about SPECTRE stuff but I hope we have a 2 year gap instead of 3 or 4 .

Yes, that is good news. I get angsty with all these delays. Daniel Craig is a great Bond and they should be trying to make sure he does as many as possible, within reason (not to the detriment of the films themselves, of course).

It's a shame things have gone as slow as they have but I guess it can't be helped, and the early signs for Spectre are good, so it does pay to wait sometimes... Just a shame he'll probably end up doing 5 when it could have been 6, you know?

I'm sure it's only a temporary date.

EON should take as much time as they need to get the script right.

Makes total sense. Why bring back SPECTRE and Blofeld for just one movie? And if 26 is a continuation of the SPECTRE arc, then they'll want the smallest gap possible.

I did read a couple of days ago that MGM were thinking of merging with a different company. Doesn't exactly surprise me. No one really wants to work with Sony anymore.

I hope this is the case.

Also be careful about posting SONY leaks.

This.

Bond 24, before it was SPECTRE, was originally given a November 2014 release date and Bond 23, before it was Skyfall, was given a release date in 2010. The cancelled Bond 17 was scheduled for release in 1992, just as the original plan was for Bond 21 to release in 2004. Alas, we know what happened with all those films.

As late as the summer, they were apparently considering the possibility of BOND 24 ending up in 2016, so I wouldn't get hopes up too high.

It would be great to just a 2 year gap between SPECTRE and Bond 25, but I think if that is the case some preproduction work must've been done already. My hunch is that there will be a 3 year gap between SPECTRE and Craig's swan song, and the seventh actor would then be introduced in Bond 26 on the 60th anniversary of the franchise.

There's no way that Bond 25 arrives in 2017.  It'll be 2018 at the earliest.

I wouldn't say it's entirely unplausible that Bond 25 could arrive in 2017, but I do think it's very unlikely. Especially with the loss of revenue from the Sony hack, they need time to recoop their finances. So while I don't think it's impossible, I think it's highly improbable that Bond 25 releases before 2018.

If it ends up being a continuation of SPECTRE, I feel we could see Bond 25 in late 2017...

There's almost no chance.  First, they don't want to repeat the so-called mistakes that led to Quantum of Solacebeing the supposed failure that many see it as.  Second, they'll likely be searching for a new studio to take on the films, which will take some time.  2017 is almost certainly off the table, unless they already have a completed script.  2018 might even be pushing it, depending on how the Sony situation turns out.

QoS wasn't the considered failure because of time constraints, but due to writers' strikes.

I have no idea what the constraints are to agreeing a release date and then pushing back on that due to such reasons but I would presume the factor for Maintaining agreed dates might have something to do with revenue forecasts.

But clearly, a Bond film can be turned around in a two year window - and QoS wasn't exactly light on the location hopping.

That said, two year turnarounds have long been promised in times past, and for the most part they have rarely happened.

True, but I don't see them repeating that schedule when the three year (or more) window has been very successful for them on both a financial and, most of the time, a critical level.

For the fans I always thought a soild bond game could cover the gap between the movies .. Anyways I hope that the recent 3 yr gaps between SF and SP was to avoid a 3 yrs gap between SP and Bond 25 ..

No, the 3 year gap between Skyfall and SPECTRE was literally to accomodate Mendes. The film would probably be out now if they had gone with a different director.

I would be Ok if Mendes just directed SF .. I hope we have a director available for a 2017 release :)

If we get a better movie because of it, I'm completely fine waiting 3 years.

I hope "Monkeys" is 'The Secret Of Monkey Island'. :D

If we have to wait 3 years, I can just about do that - that will mean Craig hits the big 5-0 just after the release.

Yeah, the 2017 date sounds like a speculative one. They always are at this stage, unless you're Marvel.

I hope they do make it in time for 2017. But if Mendes directs Bond 25, it's more than likely to be a 2018 release. He'll want to do other stuff in between. I imagine another director could get it out for 2017 - perhaps they've already approached someone like Christopher Nolan to start mulling over ideas.

However, given the departures of Logan, Purvis & Wade from full-time Bond duty, I'd be surprised if they've got anything more than a rough sketch of the story for Bond 25 until they've finished the current film. And that would mean writing Bond 25 in early 2016 and starting pre-production in late 2016. My guess is a 2018 release, whatever happens and whoever directs.

It would be great if we got a Bond film in 2017...but I would rather wait another year if we got a better film. The bigger the gap often makes for a better film (TSWLM, GE, CR SF.....although that argument admittedly falls down a bit with Die Another Day), whereas the rush to get back into the 2 year cycle after Casino Royale resulted in Quantum of Solace...

It would be great but if Bond 25 is truly Craig's last film then knowing them they'll take 3 years.

If it was his last with Mendes then it will take 3 years with no doubt.. I wanna see SP to decide if its good idea to have Mendes third time ..

Well we got half of a great Bond film in Die Another Day. Perhaps if they'd taken another 3 years, we would've gotten 2 great halves. :P

If MGM does look to do business with another studio after Spectre, then that's fine to me. MGM has deals with FOX and Paramount, so I'm sure nothing too bad will happen.

As for the release date, I guarantee we won't see another Bond film until 2018. While It'd be nice to have one out sooner, you have to take in consideration for time and prep.

unless they start early pre-pre-production with those involved during the latter stages of post production on SPECTRE - which they have done on previous films.

Ideally, I feel Bond 25 should and will be Craig's last. 5 films is a strong run. One more than Brosnan and one less than Connery. If Bond 25 hits cinemas around 2018 then Bond 26 will be the 60th Anniversary film, launching the occasion with a brand new Bond. It will be a mad and exciting time!

They want Craig to break Moore # .. But its up to Craig .. I also see the relation between Craig and the producers similar to Moore .. So he could stay longer than expected :)
