Did Honor Blackman really go Florida and Kentucky, during the filming of Goldfinger? I thought all of her scenes were filmed in the U.K. Also, there was no film with her and Sean Connery called The Man In The Moon. Could she be confusing it with something else she worked with him in?

To be fair, half-a-century has passed since the filming of Goldfinger, as well as the subsequent events in her life and career. So I'm not gonna criticize her for not remembering everything.

To be frank, had I been asked without the Mail piece, I would have said from having read this and that, that she filmed only in Pinewood.

Was fairly sure she never went to Miami or Kentucky.  Definitely not Miami anway.

You again? Next you'll be telling me Roger Moore didn't go into outer space. :D

She's 89. She's entitled to be a little forgetful!

I hope she lives to become a centenarian like Bob Hope and George Burns were.

Sean never going to Miami caused some of the worst rear projection scenes, not only in Bond movie history, but in cinema.  Some of those shots are incredibly bad.  However, I bet you couldn't tell as much if you went to the cinema's in the 60's.

Indeed - it worked because Cec Linder did appear in Miami. By showing him in the real Fontainbleu, then putting him against the back projection before he stepped into the Pinewood cabana, it made Connery's appearance against the same back projection a natural segue.

I didn't notice the cheat myself until recently, when I noticed the same technique used to place Dean Martin in Monte Carlo in Murderers' Row.

As you say, BoS, it worked in the 60s because no one was comparing the effect to 21st century green-screening.

My understanding is that Honor Blackman shot all her Goldfinger scenes at Pinewood studios and at an airfield in Buckinghamshire (where scenes for Pussy Galore's flying circus were shot). I am happy to be corrected if anybody knows different. By the way, if you are a fan of Goldfinger, check out two articles ('Goldfinger: A Celebration' and 'Creating Goldfinger: An Appraisal') at the JBIFC's website, www.007info or their Facebook page.

My impression was that Connery never left the UK for filming.

I like to think of GF as the "Elvis Presley" of Bond films.

Pretty sure you see him in Switzerland.

Yes, Mark is correct: as far as I understand it, Connery did go to Switzerland, and did some location shooting there, but for 1 week only. Apart from that, all his scenes were shot in the UK. Budgets for actual shooting were still relatively modest, even though it was the third Bond movie. I suppose a lot of money was put aside for the Fort Knox sets on the Pinewood backlot, etc.
