For those who like nerdy things, including podcasts and listen to The Nerdist stuff, Matt Mira and his pal Matt Gourley started a podcast called James Bonding where they invite comedians to watch and review the films with them. They're even talking about reviewing other things such as the James Bond Jr show and the games as well. You all should really give it a listen, they brought in two feminist comedians who've never seen a Bond flick before and have them watch Goldfinger; the results are hysterical. It's a great listen and they cover a lot of bases, even going as far as playing the theme songs and alternates/rejections as well.

I tried to listen to these. Man, they were awful.

My peeves on programming like this is that the host should know more about the topic that the listener. They don't. They didn't know what S.P.E.C.T.R.E. stood for, didn't know which novel came after FRWL, and many other items which had me yelling in the car as I was listening. Couple that with the fact that they're just annoying...singing the Bond theme? Giggling non-stop? Yeesh.

I like the concept. The execution is lacking. I'm probably being too hard on what is supposed to be a fun podcast, but James Bond is serious stuff!

No I agree, the execution was horrible on this show, which is weird because usually NERDIST shows are pretty well done.  I think I got through QoS and decided I couldn't take it anymore.  There seemed to be more poking fun than anything else and, while I like fun poking for sure, you have balance that with some compliments about the thing you supposedly love, or it doesn't work for me.  Also, they keep checking their text messages and distracting things of that nature, to where it just seemed like some dudes hitting "record" with no real plan.  Far better, though incredibly infrequent, is BondCast from the guys who used to do the ForceCast.

This podcast is pretty bad. It's needlessly profane, and like others have pointed out they really aren't too savvy in their Bond knowledge (a lot of incorrect facts and guesses). They definitely have some funny/insightful moments mixed in there, but it's not worth 2 hours of them going off topic, not paying attention, and basically insulting everything about the series except for Daniel Craig/Casino Royale. Overall they (and their guests) come across as hating all the films they're watching.

Just found this podcast. I like it, for the most part. If you don't find the hosts funny (Matt Mira is definitely overbearing), you haven't heard Matt Gourley do his piss-take Ian Fleming impersonation. It's one of the best things I've ever heard.

Yes, it initially annoyed me that they purported themselves to be "experts" early on, yet their knowledge would be bested by most members of this board. And then they came out and said, "please stop contacting us to correct us" about those "nitpicky" details. But, as with many things, it's trivial. The real value is in the perspectives from guest comedians, writers, & producers who love Bond but aren't so invested that they don't call out the ridiculous where they see it. There are some super funny bits. And these guys clearly love Bond, so it feels a bit petty to hold them in some kind of sin debt for getting some actor names, minor plot details, or other bar trivia wrong.

I would have never discovered Johnny Cash's THUNDERBALL title song effort had it not been for this podcast. I recommend it to any of you who might be looking for some harmless, fun distraction.

Just remember--chances are, you'll know things they don't (and won't live a day longer for it), so let their early air of "expertise" just roll off, and take them as two comedians who really love the series on more of a bachelor's level than a PhD.
