What are you're favorite secondary songs? Is there any songs you would like to hear in future Bond films? Would you mind if they reused songs?

My favorites include;

DN "Jump up"

FRWL "From Russia With Love"

OHMSS "We Have All The Time In The World"

TLD "If There Was A Man"

LTK "If You Ask Me Too"

GE "The Experience Of Love"

TND "Surrender"

What I would not mind hearing in a Bond film;

Frank Sinatra

Elvis Presley

Tom Jones

Any Christmas songs

Countries national anthems or something culturally relevant to the films setting

anything really jazzy or classical

  • Its strange that AVTAK uses the Beach Boys song 'California Girls' instead of another one of their popular songs 'Surfing the USA' while Bond snowboards away while in the US.
  • I also wouldn't mind if they used the title song of the previous film in a Bond film, like FRWL playing on the radio in the background but with the previous films title song.

SECONDARY SONGS;

Dr. No
"Jump Up" - Byron Lee and the Dragonaires
"Underneath the Mango Tree" - Monty Norman Diana Coupland

From Russia with Love
"From Russia With Love" (End Credits) -  Matt Monro

Thunderball
"Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" Dionne Warwick and another version by Shirley Bassey (not on soundtrack, only instrumental version appears in film)

On Her Majesty's Secret Service
"We Have All the Time in the World" - Louis Armstrong
"Do You Know How Christmas Trees Are Grown?" Nina

For Your Eyes Only
"Make It Last All Night" - Rage

A View to a Kill
"California Girls" (not on soundtrack) - Gidea Park

The Living Daylights
"If There Was a Man" - The Pretenders
"Where Has Everybody Gone?" - The Pretenders

Licence to Kill
"If You Asked Me To" - Patti Labelle
"Wedding Party" - Ivory
"Dirty Love" Tim Feehan

GoldenEye
"The Experience of Love" - Éric Serra
"Searching for the Golden Eye" - Motiv8 and Kym Mazelle
"James Bond Theme" (GoldenEye trailer version) Starr Parodi and Jeff Fair (used in teasers, not in film)

Tomorrow Never Dies
"Surrender"- K.D. Lang
"James Bond Theme" - Moby (not in film)

The World Is Not Enough
"Only Myself to Blame" - Scott Walker (not in film)

"Doctor Zhivago Theme" (Music box)  - Maurice Jarre
"Concerto for Piano N°21" (Elvira Madigan) - Andante  - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
"Air on the G String" Maurice Jarre - Johann Sebastian Bach

"If You Asked Me To" is hands down my favorite of the secondary songs.  It's better than quite a few of the main title songs, for that matter.

My favorites include;

FRWL From Russia With Love

OHMSS We Have All The Time In The World

I thought From Russia With Love and We Have All The Time In The World were the main song, since the opening themes of both films are instrumental.

In this case, my favourites are:

Underneath The Mango Tree

From Russia With Love

We Have All The Time In The World

Tomorrow Never Dies: Surrender

I quite agree.

I'm not completely sure. I always thought of them as the main title song too and was hoping someone would step in and correct me but I think the reason they are 'secondary' is because they are not heard during the main title sequence.

Curious does anyone else think they'll have a ending credits song for Bond 24 since the last few films have ended on the Bond theme? Or is the Bond theme ending you think here to stay for now?

Though it may not be very popular, The Experience Of Love is my number one choice...

Followed closely by, If You Asked Me To

My favourite secondary song is "We Have All The Time In The World". It's a beautiful piece by John Barry and Hal David, the vocalist was unexpected in Louis Armstrong, and it was appropriate for the film.

Favourite secondary theme used in a Bond film that should have been a theme tune - of the ones we actually heard, probably "Surrender" from TND. By which I mean, the "Surrender" theme is heard performed by k d lang at the end of the film, and there interpolations of it throughout the orchestral score.

But there's another "secondary theme" used frequently throughout a certain Bond film, even though it took years after that movie for the music and lyrics vocal version to reach a wider audience - "Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" from TB. "Surrender" and "KKBB" both could have made good main themes, imho.

I'm rather partial to "Where has Everybody gone" by the Pretenders from The Living Daylights.

I've added a list of the songs in my original post. Please let me know if anything is incorrect or missing, thank you.

I know Eric Serra isn't that popular around here but its one of my favorites and the soundtrack for that matter as well as If You Ask Me To.

Thought I would see if I could bring some life into this thread

Perhaps a MOD could change the title to 'Favorite Secondary/Ending Credits Song'...instead? Maybe that would be a better title. And if they can't, thanks anyway.

Definitely Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. It's too bad they didn't save it for a title song in a future Bond film though I do love how Barry used the instrumental version to underscore Bond's romantic scenes with Domino in TB.

Without a question: Surrender from TND.

I don't count Mr. Kiss kiss bang bang, because it's not (as a song) in the movie itself and it was ment as the main theme song.

I think a few of the songs might be debatable.

I missed the ending credits song for DAD in my original post, anyone remember what it was? A DAD remix I think.

I suppose that song isn't to popular and if anyone likes it, its the title version.

I also forgot Moonraker's ending credits version of MR.

Seriously thought I had a 'hit' thread on my hands here. I mean Best Performers of the Dalton Era is pinned...

I know MODS are busy bees ('Bond 2014') but it might help generate some conversations for this thread if it was retitled 'Favorite Secondary/Ending Credits Song'.

Favorite End Credits Song : If There Was A Man

Favorite End Credits Song That Really Should Have Been Main Title song : Surrender

Favorite Song That Appears Somewhere Within The Film: We Have All The Time In The World

Favorite End Credits Song That is Really Just a Mash-up/Remix Of The Score: Crawl, End Crawl by Four Tet (QOS)

Least Favorite End Credits Song: tie between The Experience of Love and that bit of instrumental ethno-twaddle that is heard over the credits of Skyfall. Really, Thomas Newman, this is all you got?
