I'll post some teasers going forward.

The novel is a sequel to Gulfstream, but you won't need to read that to enjoy it.

Regards Timothy Dalton, this isn't a 'Dalton based' story as such; all my fan fiction attempts to emulate 'The Master' with fairly poor reward.

I've taken to using Dalton's image and also thought much about his portrayal of OO7 because I consider his role as probably the closest interpretation we have seen of Fleming's literary James Bond. I think particularly of his performance in The Living Daylights which displayed much of his ruthlessness, his machismo, his disdain and his tenderness. It was a great performance. While I don't think my work necessarily does this portrait justice, my James Bond does tend to be fairly humourless and rather dark, with a rough, unemotive edge, pierced occasionally by genuine love (or lust) and I like to think that comes across quite strongly.

Yep, Dalton is who I've always imagined when reading your novels Chrisno1. And yes, your work does this portrait justice.

I received the manuscript back from my reader this week.

Other than a few corrections it'll be ready to roll in a few days. I wanted to publish on 1st July, but that isn't an option now - I like to have a fully complete manuscript before I post and this one isn't corrected yet - but rest assured A Whisper of Death will be here in a week or so - I have a lot of re-reading and correcting to do !!!

A WHISPER OF DEATH

TimothyDaltonasOO72_zps57bc9bc1.jpg

Ian Fleming's James Bond OO7 returns...

A new adventure from Chris Stacey.

Bond is on the trail of the terror organization Golden Age and their mysterious leader, a man known only as Loki.

The adventure takes him from London, to Southern France, to Athens and finally to the sandstone skyscrapers of Meteora.

The trail is cold, the women are beautiful, the violence is ugly, the story will soon be hot off the press.

First there is trouble for Bond in the snows of Slovakia...

Champagne and Death

The watcher on the terrace of the ski lodge saw through the binoculars why James Bond was considered the most dangerous of men.

He was completing the last in a series of long spectacular swooping runs down the slopes towards Donovaly.

It was like watching music. His timing was perfect.  His skis aligned as if along bars of script. His limbs moved so sweetly he could have been the bow on Du Pre’s cello. The sound of slats on soft powder, inaudible to the watcher, must surely have rippled in applause. His neat stop in a flurry of snow was like the cut of a baton in the air, sharp, affirmative, direct. This was a man in total control of all his muscles, from the anterior to the femoris, the deltoid to the biceps, the triceps to the tensors. The movement and harmony of the man’s body was in tune with its surroundings. Every gesture, every gaze, every word spoken, was a calculated, rhythmic decision, one which started behind those steel blue eyes, inside the mind, inside the brain, the one muscle in the body which, like the heart, never stops working.

But, also like the heart, it was a muscle the watcher considered was always susceptible to outside influence.

Bond had come to rest next to a startlingly attractive red head, her hair pushed back behind a peaked fur cap, spreading away in the mountain breeze like a curtain from her neck. The snow goggles were around her throat, dangling, and she laughed as Bond moved closer. The pink ski suit she wore was a tight affair, all in one, and no imagination necessary. She clung to Bond, shook the contents of her outfit admirably to and fro and offered her giggling face for a kiss.

They turned away and he managed to nuzzle the girl’s neck as they slid towards the waiting gondolas. She wasn’t worried by the bumpy ground. If she fell she would be effortlessly saved by falling into Bond’s arms.

The watcher lowered the binoculars. No man had the right to such success, such easy pleasure. His own pleasure, due for immediate fulfillment, would lie in stopping it.

A few pointers on research and inspiration

Donovaly is a real ski resort in Slovakia.

Alas my skiing isn't really up to scratch. I went there when it was all green hills and hot sunny days.

th_HotelGalileo2_zpse3784914.jpg

The Galileo doesn't sell much champagne - it's main income in the summer is as a health spa.

th_CocoRochaasRenata1_zps034505f2.jpg

Coco Rocha is a Canadian model - she has been known to dye her hair deep velvet red - beautiful colouring.

As Renata, she'd follow in that OO7 tradition of models being Bond girls.

It was her eyes which got me !

Happy reading.

Chapter Two coming Saturday.

Chapter Two - Available Now !

Zubaria felt the coldness wash over her again, the white light seemed to be vibrating inside her mind, penetrating her consciousness, even as she felt the harsh, tense, cloying sensation which she knew meant the end was inevitable. The white light, the message, the code, the big white room, the sphere, the men in the white coats, a willing volunteer, the sacrifice, the first to die and then those calm lucid sonorous tones, the speech, the flat vowels, benign, sacred, just how she imagined God would sound like.

“Do you want to live forever?” he asked her.

th_Constance-Halaveli-Maldives-Resort-01

A chapter set in the beautiful Maldives. Bijou Isle does not exist, this picture is of Constance Halaveli, but frankly, my inspiration could have come from any of those atolls.

Next chapter will be up on Saturday - my schedule has gone a bit awry this week.

Happy reading!

Chapter Three has been submitted today and will be approved soon.

Bond is relaxing in Barcelona, but the SIS is never far away...

Enter Antonia Pilar de Vargas, aka Toni, who previously appeared in my short story 'Death Has Many Faces' which is available to read in my collection 'THE BLINK OF AN EYE'.

While scouring the net for inspiration, I came across pictures of this Greek actress who [amazingly] perfectly fits my fictional Toni.

Stand up Ioanna Triantafylli...

th_IoannaTriantafyllidouasToni2_zpsf5699

Bond isn't in Barcelona much. The cafe he's drinking in is real. It's a bit of a tourist trap, not really Bond's usual place, but then he's not being his usual spy-minded self...

What is the secret of the white room?

It's been a busy weekend for me and I just noticed I didn't trail chapter four.

Bond returns to S.I.S. Headquarters and meets his new Senior Administrator.

I've never been a big fan of Miss Moneypenny. She feels stuck in a vein of 1950's nostalgia.

Fleming isn't very interested in her either; she receives the occasional obtuse line. It's quite obvious she's M's property so Fleming concentrates on Bond's secretaries Miss Ponsonby and Miss Goodnight. I took my lead from him and my Penny has a broadly flirtatious but clearly professional relationship with OO7.

I did however take note of developments in Skyfall and have introduced a new Senior Administrator for Bond to play with.

I always thought Penny, as a Senior Administrator, should be a little older than the girls Bond dates and when I recently watched 'Starter for 10' Alice Eve (31 years young, I believe) jumped out of the screen.

Chapter Five : Twice the Trouble

Why is the S.I.S. interested in the Charteris twins?

What connection do they have to the terrible happenings on Bijou Isle?

My younger, fresher male M predates Ralph Fiennes, but I think he'll make a smashing M, so here's a photo.

Chapter Six:

An Eye for Fashion

My OO7 has attended a House of Holland fashion show before, in the short story Life Through A Lens. Then it was staged at Quaglino's, this time the location is the Shard, Europe's tallest building.

th_TheShard_zps81cc2dc5.png

When I visited, the Obelix restaurant deck wasn't open. There probably wouldn't be room for the kind of elaborate show I've described, but the views would be magnificent.

th_TheShard-Obelixrestaurant_zps10fba99b

Bond sucks in the London's night time world as he begins his pursuit of Tiara Charteris

th_TheShard-NightViewEast_zpsbf4bdd7a.jp

The nightscape beyond the windows glimmered. Bond followed the swirl of the Thames, past the Millennium Dome and onto Canary Wharf, its towers rising like competing giants. The City locked horns with the river directly below. On the next corner, the Eye and Westminster cast their own silver and gold visions. Further on the strip of white that was the Albert Bridge furrowed the Thames as she wound her way onto Hammersmith. Bond couldn’t see the girl. He took the stairs to the second observation deck. Open to the air at intervals but enclosed by a glass paneled ceiling, here the sky turned dark, mysterious. The tension cables sprinted up the side of the structure and disappeared, glinting into the tangent of the fleeting needle.

She was there, talking with two friends, one a model from the show, the other unknown to him. The girl’s left hand rested on the hand rail, the right held a champagne flute between two fingers. She was dressed in a backless, almost frontless shift dress of gold satin crepe, decent no doubt thanks to nipple tape. The blue diamonds rested around her throat, the middle stone dangling on the cusp her cleavage.

Bond inched past, pretending to inspect the view. Behind and below the trio he could make out the dome of St Paul’s and beyond that the square turret of the Tower, London’s oldest monument, both buildings once the city’s tallest and now dwarfed by the Shard. How world’s change...

 th_TheShard-NightViewWest_zpsaaac3de9.jp

The character of Tiara isn't based on anyone particular; she's a composite of several ex-girlfriends. In reality, Hayden Panetierre would be too short for a fashion model, but I like her poise and her ballsy attitude, which I think sits well with Tiara's persona. She's also pretty gorgeous and has a tiny dint on her chin exactly as I described. Lovely.

th_HaydenPanettiereasTiara2_zps12e13ee3.

Enjoy reading !
