Mendes probably will try to make BOND 24 look very different from SKYFALL - so I expect no dark cityscapes, no gloomy countrysides or London but bright beaches, snow and jungle.

 

Agreed, though I'd like to see Brazil featured.

What about the island of Borneo, French Polynesia, Belize, El Salvador or a Pacific atoll?

 

 

Rio de Janeiro has only been featured once, and not even the good parts of Rio. There's still many more places in Brazil I'd like to see. All that you listed is perfectly fine with me.

Borneo is a great idea. I used to hope for New Zealand, but I'm afraid that chance has passed with LOTR and THE HOBBIT now. 

 

Brazil ought to get a second chance as there's much more spectacular potential in that location.

I know we haven't had any confirmation but if Mendes does return for Bond 24 and Bond 25 I hope he does not make anymore theater commitments if it effects the production on the Bond films.

Gibraltar (again)

Africa, the Middle East or South America.

I would not be surprise if Mendes when is officially confirmed, used a castle that was not used in Skyfall and move to Bond 24 for the finale

The castle idea was for Skyfall Lodge, so I don't think so.

Its kind of really exciting to think John Logan is signed on for Bond 24 & 25. And Mendes is now rumored to be returning for Bond 24 & 25. Mendes brought in Logan who pitched an idea to the producers who then signed him. So I would imagine Mendes and Logan have a real good idea of where there going to go with these 2 more films. Just hope it doesn't take them forever to release them.

Right now it is basically is he or isn't he doing Bond, so it makes it easier to keep the focus on the show. If he confirmed that he is doing the next Bond the press would ask him all of the other Bond related questions making it harder to keep them focused. My thoughts on it at least.

 

He may also want to allow Barb and Mike to make an official announcement.

He's definitely not ruling out the possibility, which is encouraging. It seems likely they'll be talking to iron out the finer details of a contract very soon.

Exactly.  It would probably come off as being very disrespectful of all of the other crew and the cast of the production if he used a big occasion for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and used it to steal the spotlight with news about another project.  The event is about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but if Mendes were to break the news about Bond 24, nobody would come away from the event talking about anything other than Bond.

Disappointing that nothing has come of all these rumors but more waiting and debating. With any luck a director will be announced next week with filming starting January or at least I can Imagine. When is Mendes completely done with his theater again?

After "Charlie" there is another Shakespeare coming up, as far as I know. BOND 24 will not be his priority any time soon.

The way I remember it - I'd have to search for it somewhere here - it's always been two projects in Mendes' pipeline, prior to anything else he can load on his plate. No idea why this second theatre project was suddenly forgotten but I doubt Mendes dropped out. So it's still a bit of road ahead until he can concentrate fully on Bond. Provided that's how things turn out in the end.

He managed to direct Richard III at the Old Vic during the pre-production of Skyfall. That opened in July and Skyfall began filming in the November. I'd say he's got plenty of time to stage King Lear at the National (Which was/is supposed to open in January 2014) and oversee pre-production on Bond 24, but only if filming starts quite a bit later than January 2014. I think another start of filming in Oct/Nov next year is most likely.
