Well like bond 22 Variety has a short list of Directors that EON are looking to try and get for bond 24

http://www.cinemable...d-24-37769.html

Ang Lee: After Hulk shouldn't be let any where NEAR bond 24

Shane Black: Iron Man 3 was ok but not amazing

Nicolas Refn I liked Drive and am ok with him for Bond 24.

As for Hooper and Yates I see them mentioned a few times on this forum so I guess I would be ok with either.

thoughts?

I'm going to get so much crap for this, but I would be fine with Shane Black helming Bond 24. I liked IM3 and he clearly showed that he can direct action. However, he won't be chosen for several reasons, not the least of which is that he is American. I'm thinking whoever is signed to direct will be British. I would be alright with Nicolas Refn as well. David Yates wouldn't be bad and he knows how to make mega-blockbusters. I like Ang Lee as a director, but he is completely wrong for Bond.

Shane Black would be a really interesting but pretty risky choice, right?  But as a fan I'd love to see what he would do and how his distinctive sense of humor would play in the Bond universe.

I really don't think Refn suits Bond, although I like his work. Plus he's got a lot on his plate for the next year or so (again, the question must occur to EON, "If we're going to wait, why not wait for Mendes?" Oh, look at today's news!)

Hooper has been my preference for quite some time now, but Refn is an interesting name to add to the mix.

I'd also suggest Black may have been on the radar since the appropriately-titled KISS KISS BANG BANG.

He is pretentious though. Also, big no-no for Bond, though Aronofsky is brilliant.

I disagree, but I'd like to see him tackled something along the lines of an action/thriller as I think with his vision and style he could pull it off. Not speaking of Bond. Just a wishful hope ;)

denofgeek may 30 2013 http://www.denofgeek...-bond-shortlist

It's looking increasingly likely that Sam Mendes will be returning to direct the next James Bond film, following his huge success with Skyfall. But what's becoming readily apparent is that Eon has cast the net quite far in the search for the helmer of James Bond 24.

The latest name linked with the project is the director of Headhunters, Morten Tyldum. Whilst chronologically this is likely to have happened before the focus switched back to Mendes, Tyldum confirmed to Twitch Film that he had indeed been approached about the new movie.

"I can confirm that I've had a meeting with Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson", he said. "They are fans of Headhunters, and wanted to know if I'm available at the moment. They also wanted me to read a script".

from Tyldum's words above, it does seem as though there's a draft of John Logan's screenplay for Bond 24 already in place.

Nicolas Winding Refn  was coy on the matter when asked by FirstShowing.net at the Cannes Film Festival.

The site claims to have been tipped off on the possibility of Refn taking the job by a "trustworthy source", and when asked about it, he seemed to dodge giving concrete answers.

"Where did you hear that?", he asked suspiciously, before adding: "I love Bond... I love him."

The director then gives a coy smile when it is suggested that we will all just have to wait for confirmation.

Jeff Sneider has also added to the rumours, writing on Twitter: "Nicolas Winding Refn makes moves about men of action & few words. James Bond is cut from that mold. Refn may not get it but he's in the mix."

I only like Ang Lee's Chinese-language movies. His US stuff is far too traditional, and I can't see him direct a hard-hitting, tough action movie like Bond 24 should be.

5 directors who could make the next James Bond film http://uk.movies.yah...-102400698.html

The studio behind James Bond, Eon Productions, has been furiously drawing up a list of potential directors to take over the next entry in the 007 franchise.

With the announcement that 'Skyfall's director Sam Mendes may not return, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have been turning their eyes to everyone from 'The King's Speech's Oscar winning filmmaker Tom Hooper and the acclaimed 'Drive' auteur Nicholas Winding Refn.

Whoever ultimately takes the job will have big shoes to fill. Following up what was arguably the best James Bond film yet and taking it forward the new, modern direction Mendes established in 'Skyfall' will be no easy task. But who would be a suitable appointment for the director's chair? Here are five potential candidates:

1. Ang Lee

Fresh off the back of his Academy Award win for Best Director, 'Life Of Pi's Ang Lee is sure to be one of the most sought after filmmakers for the Bond chair. With a diverse résumé of work that ranges from action and romance to thriller and fantasy, Lee has already proven his ability to bring a masterful touch to almost every genre he confronts. Surely, he'd be no less remarkable at the helm of James Bond.

2. David Yates

For more than a few reasons, the director tasked with 'Bond 24' is undoubtedly going to be under extraordinary pressure. The filmmaker who lands the job should, therefore, be an artist accustomed to such a heavy burden. With this in mind, Eon should look no further than David Yates, the man tasked with concluding the 'Harry Potter' franchise. What's more, as well as his blockbuster credentials, Yates is no stranger to thrillers having shot the stunning TV mini-series 'State Of Play'.

3. Eran Creedy

Or how about some new blood for a change? It would be inspiring to see Eon Productions put their faith in a new generation of British filmmakers and pass the torch to Eran Creedy. He's only made two films so far, 'Shifty' and this year's 'Welcome To The Punch', but he's already made an impression as one of the most promising homegrown talents to watch.

4. Paul Greengrass

One could argue that James Bond has struggled to remain relevant in a new era of action films. Part of the reason why is due to the immense success of the 'Bourne' movies which redefined the genre for a new audience looking for something smarter and grittier than the average thrill-ride. So who better to steer the Bond ship into new territory than the man who directed 'The Bourne Supremacy' and 'The Bourne Ultimatum': Paul Greengrass. Bond fanatics might consider it an admission of defeat, but his trademark docu-style could work excellently with 007.

5. Alfonso Cuaron

No stranger to working on major franchises, Alfonso Cuaron revolutionised the Harry Potter movies when he helmed its most bravura entry 'The Prisoner Of Azkaban'. Also famous for his groundbreaking sci-fi 'Children Of Men' and with the experimental 'Gravity' on the way - a film apparently made up mostly of unbroken 10 minute takes, with the opening scene a whopping 20 minutes long - it would undoubtedly be thrilling to see what new artistic approach Cuaron would bring to 007.
