My first attempt at anything Bond-related, except for simple piano arrangement in the past. The only instrument that is not synthesized in this recording is the electric bass. I got in the mood for jamming so I unpacked my old dusty Ibanez. Also the timpani is softer than it sounded while I was recording but realized it too late, it was meant to be louder.

I guess I consider it okay, especially for a first shot and it has inspired me to ambitions that eventually perhaps I'll be able to imitate other gunbarrel cues but it seems very difficult at a first look. Nevertheless, it's still fun even if you fail and even if the sound is not the best.

I'm thinking of having an attempt at my very own projects of unreleased Bond music, like gkgyver and mattjoes. With music from, inter alia, Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, For Your Eyes Only, Licence to Kill etc.

I believe I did compose piano arrangement for Klebb's death and Derval's death when I was just had learned to play piano, but I have forgotten all the tones, even the basic chords.

Even though it was kinda effortless, I loved recording that gunbarrel theme so today I've spent the latest half-hour recording another. Just as with the first one, I guess I consider it good for a second try. It's somewhat more amibitious and more inspired by the real deal, but it's still just for fun. The ending is stupid, horribly rushed and simply improvised, but at least in some manner, it does end the cue.

And again, I neither have an orchestra or a real studio. The only thing I got is 10 years experience of playing bass and 4 years of playing piano/synth.

EDIT: I just reallized that it would have been so much better with at least three more trumpets.

I love the fourth one, but also the use of FRWL song in the third one.

And a 5th done in about 20 minutes. I included the classic intro just to be variative from my other gunbarrel themes, though I really do prefer gunbarrel themes without it, as it is in Tomorrow Never Dies & The Spy Who Loved Me. Not sure why, but I guess I find it more suspenseful..

I love the fourth one, but also the use of FRWL song in the third one.

Interesting. I thought only a musician would notice that since it's only three notes and a semi-octave lower than the original motif and of course a little slower in tempo.

I might as well tell you that the melody at the end of my 5th gunbarrel theme is not totally original.

Who says I'm not a musician? ;)

I tend to notice this kind of things all the time.

Nice... which instruments? Autodidact or lessons?

If anyone's interested, I have sheet music for all gunbarrels except 4 and 1 but I could easily transcribe them.

Why not midi files?

That could be done too except for 1 and 4, which were recorded live, so I would have to transcribe them first. You want all?

Might add that #5 was the only one that was recorded using software, soundfonts to be precise. I think I used MagicSF if you liked the sound library.

Loved the "FYEO" quote at the end of #5. Nicely done.

I just transcribed the first gunbarrel, almost to, if not to, total perfection.

When I'm done with #4, I could post a zip with all 5 in MIDI format.

Been busy but finally got around to transcribing #1. I actually still had source tracks for that one so I could listen to two instruments at a time (Timpani & Horn in one, strings and bass in another and vibes & strings formed one track. But remember, since there weren't any MIDI files for #1 and #4 to begin with, the transcriptions are aren't as accurate as the ones who were MIDI based. #2, #3 and #5 are exactly the very same MIDI files I played through my synthesizer.

Nice ones!

I've tried to make a gunbarrel theme as well, but I don't like it at all. I really hope to do better next time.

Some bass when the riff and the melody starts to play should fix it. Or perhaps have it play during the whole sequence, it could correspond with the drum beats.

Nice! Sounds like a more modern amalgamation of Moore & Dalton.

In the latest week, my e-mail has received 3 different James Bond sheet music requests from 3 different persons, so I decided to upload transcriptions for all my gunnbarrel themes.to YouTube.

Music #1, #4 and #6 have been transcribed later, while the others were written during time of recording.

I thought it was rather fitting that I would have done (00)7 gunbarrels, but couldn't resist playing around with another, so here's No. 8
