PLOT

-Bond investigates something that looks small scale but turns out to be something massive

-The villain is evidently the villain from the off, rather than a "twist"

-The villain has particular political leanings or affiliation

-The villain knows who Bond is already

-The conclusion involves Bond on his own or with little support

CAR

-Whatever it is, it's not an Aston Martin

-Largely gadget free

What fun these are! My answers are kind of boring on this one;

- Bond investigates something that looks small scale that turns out to be something massive

-The villain is evidently the villain from the off rather than a " twist"

- The conclusion involves a pitched battle with as many extras as can be paid for (as opposed to another one man army finale - bring back the jumpsuits)

- The story is a fantastical escapist yarn with no evident social commentary

- Whatever it is it's not an Aston Martin (white Bentley Continental GT Speed)

- Has loads of gadgets (don't all have to be used or even work)

Going by the results so far, everyone seems to be on the same page which is great :-)

I shoulda clicked on something different for the plot. I'd like the small scale turns into something bigger played out like a Hitchcock story where no one knows what's going on till the last 15 minutes.

And keep it round the 2 hour mark, excluding end credits !

Plot: the story is influenced by current far right religious death cults, but not so much as to completely alienate the followers of far right religious death cults, i.e. they should be able to enjoy the film without recognising they are the baddies.

Brmmm: brmmm. If any hideously, obscenely expensive vehicle is needed it should be a return of the German BMW, only as variant: make it the villain's Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé, which Bond steals to escape from the villain's estate. Abuse the car in every possible manner, ideally demolishing at least twelve fully functional identical vehicles in the process of shooting a 90 seconds sequence. Let some minor henchman utter some line about 'effing Kraut cars' when they finally cut Bond from the wreck. After which he explains the firm belongs to the German BMW company, otherwise the chase wouldn't have taken so bloody long. Making for great product placement in the finished film...

The Lotus Evora is cool.  And we haven't seen a big ending battle since 1987.

As for gadgets, since we have a new quartermaster let's have Q offer lots of ideas, some of which work well and some of which aren't perfected yet.  They shouldn't blindly save Bond from any situation or be tailor fit to a scene like poison wrist darts, watches, or exploding pens.  Have Bond suggest something useful to Q Branch.  Or explore what happens when it falls into the wrong hands since it 'wasn't returned in one piece.'  Since the M relationship has been covered pretty well, and there's a backstory for Bond and Moneypenny, develop the professional working relationship with Q.  Something to have Q understand why field agents are needed the way M and Moneypenny do.  His character in Skyfall is ripe for being taken down a peg.

PLOT:

- Bond investigates something that looks small scale that turns out to be something massive;

- The villain has particular political leanings or affiliation;

- The conclusion involves Bond on his own or with little support;

- The villain's HQ exploderates (PREFERABLY the HQ would be on a snow setting, where Bond would have to escape by ski);

VEHICLES:

- new model of Aston martin;

- Big chase sequence with the car facing off against something unlikely eg a tank or helicopter;
