I like the idea of Cumberbatch the most, with DDL after, and I wouldn't mind Gary Oldman either. With those 3, DDL is certainly the least likely. As for Cotillard, it's possible, but a great script is absolutely essential for it to work well.

I'm still not sure who would make a great henchman, although I know I wouldn't want their presence to overwhelm the main villain. Unless, like somone here mentioned before, the script has a twist and masks the main villain as the main "henchman".

I can't say that I'd particularly want any of the names on that list to play a Bond villain.  Some are far too famous at this point (De Niro, Hopkins), and others are already cast as lead villains in other major franchises (Cumberbatch) that would make for a quick jump over to play a villain in 2015 for Bond a bit too much.  As for Cotillard playing a villain, I just can't see what the attraction to that would be.  She's a good actress, but her very weak turn as "Miranda Tate" in The Dark Knight Rises (a good film, IMO, with Tate being the only major flaw in the story) would leave me very wary of her playing a Bond villain.

Can't say I like anyone on the list besides DDL who I think would be wishful thinking, most of them are already associated with playing a villain in another major franchise.

I hate these lists, it's just "Here's a list people who've played villains or who would just never be in a Bond movie".

DDL won't do a Bond movie......he seem to choose certain roles and take a lot to prepare and research

Cumberbatch won't be the villain in Bond 24 as he already Star trek into darkness villain so Bond 25 is the better choice, some of the other choices are known to be villains of other movies too bad.......need to be a less unknown star

Bit of an uninspired list - basically just actors who have played, or will play, bad guys in big films who would be big enough for a Bond villain on that basis.

Don't think anyone on that list has a crack at it.

I´d love to see an unknown actor playing a villain - much more unpredictable, not the baggage of too many past roles.

I certainly hope that it´s not required to cast only awards-laden "thespians" from now on...

Only Cumberbatch on that list has any actual merit. DDL wouldn't be bad, but it would never happen. But De Niro? Hopkins? Are you serious?

Well I don't think the "he is too famous" argument should be thrown around, I mean they cast Javier Bardem as a Bond villain and he has been in a lot of really big movies and has won one or two oscars? I mean I think that it really doesn't care how "big" these actors and actresses are because Javier Bardem was cast and he did a really good job at being a villain.

I agree on that count. It doesn't matter what the status of the actor is. Bardem is a highly-esteemed and well known actor. As was Telly Savalas in 1969. Sean Bean was relatively well known. Robert Carlyle was. Halle Berry won an Oscar prior to Die Another Day. Robert Davi was well known. So that argument is just pure garbage. If they couldn't get high profile actors, Javier Bardem wouldn't have even been pursued.

I always thought Terence Stamp would be a terrific villain and I would like to see Brian Cox in a Bond film.

No way do we every see Hopkins after the TND incident.

Despite his appearance in the dreadful Downey Jr Holmes franchise, I'd like to see Jared Harris in a Bond film

My #1 choice tho would be Christoph Waltz.

prior to CR in 2006, I had imagined Cox as a possible Le Chiffre. However now that he was in bourne, i say he should stay clear of Bond.

I would like to see an unknown actor, and if he succeeds then he has a chance to build a very good career.

Yeah I mean unknown actors and actresses are cool, I am just saying that well known actors and actresses aren't bad either.

Helen Mirren.

yes she would be a good female villain, a Rose Kebb like? too bad she won't be fighting with Bond but they could have a henchman that is very skilled aka Red Grant like to do the job for her

I'd take a cross-dressing Daniel Day Lewis over a computer system any day.

His acting skills are probably on a par with those two. However, I don't think the henchmen should be too distracting. I liked the approach taken with Patrice in SKYFALL - no dialogue, nothing remarkable about him, but fairly memorable on account of having two major set piece action sequences built around him. It was surprisingly effective, in my opinion.

Really? I miss the Xenia Onatopp, May Day, Dr. Kaufman, etc. where there is an actual character with some personality and lines. They made intriguing subplots. Patrice was a ridiculously lame character; at least Mollaka was memorable due to his amazing athletic stunts whereas Patrice's involvement in the early chase and brief Shanghai fight were forgettable. Ever since TND, there has been a dark age for Bond henchmen/women.

Bruce Willis expresses interest in new Bond movie

Yesterday we revealed that film director and Olympics opening ceremony mastermind Danny Boyle won’t be signing up for the next Bond movie. But while Danny may not be on board another big name has expressed an interest: veteran action hero Bruce Willis.
After Javier Bardem stole scenes as peroxide blond baddie Silva in Skyfall, Bruce has said that after years of playing the good guy he would go bad for Bond.“I always thought it would be more fun to play bad guys,” says the 58-year-old best known for playing New York policeman John McClane in the Die Hard series.
“I tried it a couple of times but it really wasn’t as much fun as I thought it would be so I’ll stay good unless there’s a James Bond villain offer. That last movie really renewed my love for 007.”

I think if Bruce Willis was to play a villain it would play off to much as James Bond vs Die Hard wouldn't it? I don't see it happening or Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson for that matter. [1]

Since I saw Of Gods and Men, I've thought Lambert Wilson could be an interesting Bond villain. And regarding female villains, I've lately been thinking of Charlotte Rampling.
