Berenice Lim Marlohe for 'Best Actress'. Obviously.

The best she could hope for is a supporting actress nod, but that wouldn't be completely beyond the pale; she absolutely nailed the subtle nuances and turned what could have been just another gorgeous, but forgettable, Bond girl into someone far more memorable. I'm not sure if Judi's turn as M would be considered a leading role or not.

'M' is a supporting role.

But both, Judi and Berénice, have no chance at a nomination. Just look at the predictions.

Those are the front runners in the "Supporting Actress"-category:

  • Ann Dowd
    “Compliance”
  • Sally Field
    “Lincoln"
  • Anne Hathaway
    “Les Miserables”
  • Helen Hunt
    “The Sessions”
  • Maggie Smith
    “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”
  • Amy Adams
    “The Master”
  • Nicole Kidman
    “The Paperboy"
  • Samantha Barks
    “Les Miserables”
  • Jennifer Ehle
    “Zero Dark Thirty”

It will be 5 of them.

I know, with the actors/actresses/best picture, you can tell now the films that have almost been bred just for Oscar wins that come out of the woodwork, like 'Lincoln', 'Les Miserables' etc. Pure Academy fodder with the usual cast and crew you'd expect.

Yeah, but unlike most years, I found this year's favorite, Lincoln, to a be a DAMNED good movie and most deserving.

Still, it would have been nice for Skyfall to get at least a big nomination. I never expected a win. Another favorite of mine, Looper, was shut out as well.

Oh well, the 50 year tribute thing is enough to get me to watch the Oscars this year.

If all the Bond actors (Connery, Moore, Laz, Dalton, Bronsan, and Craig) shows up at the Oscar for the 50th anniversary tribute, it better than any Oscar awards combine........I wonder if any of them will be presenting one of the awards there?

Sean Connery ‘not asked’ to James Bond reunion at Oscars

http://www.scotsman....scars-1-2735262

Sir Sean Connery apparently knows nothing about a planned James Bond reunion at this year’s Oscars to celebrate 50 years of the franchise, it has been claimed.

The original 007 was thought to be among the other Bonds who were invited to take part, with Sir Roger Moore, Daniel Craig, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan all said to be taking part.

However, it was claimed today that Edinburgh-born Sir Sean’s press agent has claimed no one has so far approached him to get involved.

Recent reports indicated that Eon Productions wanted Sir Sean to take part in the reunion which would see all James Bond stars together on stage, but so far no one has been in touch with the Connery camp.

The latest instalment in the Bond series, Skyfall, has been applauded by fans and critics alike, earning the franchise its first Oscar nomination in 30 years, competing in 5 categories.

Part of me is hoping they are keeping it secret so it is a huge surprise. But not the realistic part of me.

Hello everyone.  I'm new to the forum.  Normally, I'd bring happiness and good tidings.

But, seeing as so many of you are excited about Adele and the 50th anniversary presentation at the Oscars, I figured I should warn you.  The last time the Oscars did a big James Bond number, in 1982 for Sheena Easton singing "For Your Eyes Only" in honor of the previous year's hit song... it... it... well...  let's just say some of you may prefer a bottomless wicker chair and a thick swinging rope to what the results were...

And on that note, welcome to CBn Spectre Cat!

Well yes… I unfortunately remember this from when it was first shown.

Subsequently, every time people talk about Adele, the nomination for original song and a Bond tribute at the Oscars I breakout into a terrified cold sweat.

Welcome aboard, by the way!

Remarkable, drugs ought to be forbidden. And to think real-life ladies actually had these concrete hairstyles. I well remember breaking the odd finger in those perms.

PS: Welcome to CBn, Spectre Cat!

Interesting video.

I'm wondering, just how many of you think Connery will show up or not? I'm can't picture a reunion unless he is their.

A poll would be fun IMO.

Thanks for posting this... it's so surreal... and gee, I hope this year's tribute makes up for this cheesy little, nightmare inducing, fake-cat, number.

See Brosnan's too nice of a guy that Seth MacFarlane could get away with this...now had it been Sean Connery or Daniel Craig's 007, I wouldn't tempt fate...lol :)

Last one I watched was in 2005 when 'Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith' was up for an Oscar. Didn't win. But penguins did that year, so all good!

Looking foward to it, really hoping it's a good one for 007.
