I think a thread like this already exists but I can't find it, so thought I'd start it again.

My wish:

A happy ending. Every Bond deserves at least one.

A "normal" mission in exotic locations, no rogue revenge mission.

No more "this time it's personal" storylines.  Seven of the last eight have used this device.  It's time to move on for a while.

A good mixture of locations.  They can keep Craig in his more usual warmer locations like the Bahamas and South America, but I'd like to see a snowy locale as well, even if just for the PTS.

Yvonne Strahovski as the Bond girl

A good, old fashioned car chase.

Agreed 100%. I understand that audiences these days like that sorta thing (see Nolan's Batman trilogy, for instance), but it's about time Bond is sent on a "normal" mission for his country. And by "normal," I mean one which does not involve the injury/death of someone who is close to him, his past, or taking revenge (either by or against Bond). I'm assuming the one you left out, tdalton, is Tomorrow Never Dies. And I'd have to disagree with you there-- I think Paris Carver was indeed intended to contain a strong dose of "this time it's personal," but compared to the other seven, it is the tamest of the bunch.

I guess it could be looked at that way.  It was just so poorly done in all facets that it couldn't be taken seriously as such a plotline, at least IMO.

I don't really see it with Tomorrow Never Dies. Frankly, Paris Carver should have been completely left out. I agree with you tdalton, I'd like no revenge plots, Yvonne Strahovski and snowy locales for the next one.

I don't really see it with Tomorrow Never Dies.

Neither did I, actually, until I heard a Brosnan interview somewhere in which he took credit for her inclusion in the film. "I told them, make it personal, make it someone he once loved" was Brosnan's words, or something to that effect.

I'd like to see:-

1)   A Thunderball style plot - a "race against time" mission for Bond. Not a "blow up the world" threat but serious enough to warrant the attention of the Double-0 section.

2)  Bond having his wicked way with the leading lady, and said lady surviving to the end of the final reel.

3)  Referring back to point 1, the return of.....Quantum, but is it Quantum any more, or another organisation we have seen before?

4)  The storyline pointing to a final confrontation with the head of this organisation in Bond 25.

5)  The return of Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter, in an expanded role.

I'd also like to see the gunbarrel at the start of the film, but I don't think this will happen. I think the dropping of this is deliberate, to distinguish the "re-boot" films from the ones that preceded them. The gunbarrel is now treated as an icon to be dropped into the main titles or stuck at the end of the film, rather than a fixed point. A pity, but not something that spoils my enjoyment of the Craig era movies.

-No revenge plot.

-A plot that threatens the world ala Thunderball.

-I’d like to see Quantum resurface.

-Same level of humour ala CR and SF.

-Craig Bond in the snow would definitely be very nice to see.

-Felix Leiter – played by Wright, making an appearance, even just a cameo.

-Q to provide further gadgets, still grounded in realms of plausibility but ‘stepped up’ from the gun and radio.

- The new M based primarily in the office ala Bernard Lee with a sterner attitude.

-Gunbarrel at the beginning

-The scenes between Bond and M chock-full of subtle references/nods to the Bernard Lee scenes of old.

-No more personal revenge motives by either Bond or the villain.

-Perhaps an adaptation of a major plot element that has yet to be used from the novels.  Maybe a gold smuggling scheme being used to finance terrorism in the US, similar to Live and Let Die?  This would open up the opportunity to return the series to Jamaica as well.  Felix could even take Bond into Harlem at some point.  Quantum could also be involved somehow.

-Regardless of the plot, just make sure it's relevant and actually matters to the world in general.  This doesn't necessarily mean world domination or something far-fetched like that.  It just has to be more than a jaded ex-agent who wants to kill his old boss, a private government official whose death really doesn't effect the world in general because she'll just be replaced and things will go back to business as usual.

What I want has been already said (Gunbarrel, Felix, Quantum with Blofeld as boss and a fight confrontation in Bond 25, Yvonne Strahovski as Bond girl).

Not only I would like to see some of the source material from Fleming's novels, like FYEO (From a View to a Kill and Hildebrand Rarity) TMWTGG (post-Bond's cure), but I think Live And Let Die would work great: it takes place after Casino Royale and it involves Smersh, changing Solitaire and Mr. Big's name if they want to avoid references with Roger Moore's movie.

Many of the elements from Fleming's LALD could be used without blatantly duplicating the 1973 film, including the basic scheme of salvaging pirate treasure to finance international skulduggery. Here's an idea: Buonaparte Gallia (Filippo Timi) is an upstart member of the 'Ndrangheta who does business with Somali pirates, flouting omerta in the pursuit of quick wealth. So far he's been successful. In a bid to establish his own global crime family, he hatches a plan to kidnap his own sister Pazienza (Martina Stella) from a convent, and present her as a gift to the most powerful pirate in the Indian Ocean (Idris Elba). But the nubile nun has ambitions of her own, and Bond exploits the family drama to thwart Buonaparte's scheme. Call the film Risico, a reference to the one thing that the villain never takes into consideration.

Amen to that! It's probably a given anyway...

I would like to see:

- Fiennes, Harris, Kinnear, and Whishaw all return in their respective roles. And Craig, obviously.

- EXTREMELY high stakes, i.e. a city, country, continent, or even the world, at risk.

- a maniacal villain

- gunbarrel at the beginning

- good use of the James Bond Theme

- a henchman at the level of Jaws, Grant or Oddjob

- some inspired, original gadgets - nothing too 'techy'

Good to see that a good deal of fans are coming from the same place. Thunderball like story structure and elements for me as well. (That includes a BIG battle TB, YOLT, OHMSS SWLM at the end. With the profits from SF they should be able to afford that.)

Gunbarrel at the beginning

Felix Leiter

Ski chase (maybe in the PTS?)

A traditional yet modernised Bond adventure with strong plot

Skyfall-styled gadgets (it´s called radio :))

Castle Of Death

And yes, more of the James Bond theme, please :)

It's great to see such a strong consensus amongst fans :D You guys have made brilliant points!

- Bond gets the girl

- Felix Leiter!! (Jeffrey Wright version; love him!)

- Ski sequence

- Espionage-based plot: Bond doing an official mission

- Gun barrel at the beginning PLEASE. Three in a row without it is more than I can bear.

I'm not so fussed about the gadgets. I was pleased with SkyFall's approach to them, but tbh I preferred Casino Royale's virtually gadget-free story. He had equipment in that one, which was imperceptibly blended into the story.

I wouldn't mind seeing the palm-printed weaponry and radio distress beacon become standard equipment, much like the attaché case was standard issue in FRWL and GF. (and the DB5 presumably was standard issue in GF and TB.)

On the theme of gadgets, Purvis and Wade said in an interview they had a great idea for a Craig gadget which they hoped to use in a future film. Now that they've gone, I guess we'll never see it :(

- My #1 want won’t be achieved for a couple films, so I’ll omit that one…

- Gunbarrel at the beginning (admittedly, this is more of a need than a want…)

- PTS that has little or nothing to do with the storyline and is rather just a fun and exciting action sequence (i.e. TB, TSWLM, MR)

- Fiennes as a traditional Lee-type M (head of MI6, mainly behind the desk), rather than Dench’s “side-kick” in the field

- Memorable henchman

- Significant globe-trotting in contrasting locations

- More use of the Bond theme

- Blofeld & SPECTRE-type org (Quantum?)

- Thoroughly competent director who respects the pre-Craig years (so essentially a Mendes, or a Nolan)

- Good old fashioned espionage & “save the _________” plot (preferably not whales)

- Un-delayed release in 2014

Looking beyond Bond 24, my hope is that Fiennes, Harris, Whishaw, and Kinnear are in for the long-haul (7-10 films: maybe not realistic, but one can hope).

I think SF is taking us in the right direction.  The above tweaks would allow for a more traditional Bond adventure, which would make me (and apparently many others) quite happy.
