I known there's already a thread on the VFX Oscar nomination, but I thought I'd start a thread putting all award nominations and wins together in one place:-

Academy Awards (Oscars):
Academy Award for Best Visual Effects: Short listed

http://www.timeslive...l-effects-oscar
Members of the academy's visual-effects branch will view 10-minute excerpts from each of the films on January 3rd, and then pick five nominees for the Oscars.
Nominations for the 85th Oscars will be announced January 10th.

---

Satellite Awards:
Motion Picture: Nominated
Actress in a Supporting Role/Judi Dench: Nominated
Actor in a Supporting Role/Javier Bardem: Nominated
Original Score/Thomas Newman: Nominated
Original Song/Adele: Nominated
Cinematography/Roger Deakins: Nominated
Visual Effects: Nominated.
---

The TelstraClear Flicks.co.nz People's Choice Movie Awards:
Best Action Movie sponsored by Quickflix: Nominated
Best Actor/Javier Bardem: Nominated
Hero of the Year sponsored by Film3/Daniel Craig: Nominated.
---

LA Film Critics Association Award:
Best Cinematography/Roger Deakins: Won
---

Boston Online Film Critics Association:
Best Cinematography/Roger Deakins: Won
---

Washington DC Area Film Critics Association:

Is the Academy Award nomination official? And if so, is that the only Oscar 'Skyfall' is nominated for?

Surprising it's for that...but it won't win up against the VFX glory of something like 'The Hobbit' or something else ridiculous and in your face.

I think it's the only Oscar nomination announced so far, Skyfall is in the 10 film short list. The main Oscars haven't been announced yet nor have other technical awards.

Just done a quick background check, it's only short listed, they will vote for the 5 nominees and they'll be announced on January 10th. Initial post has been updated with this information.

Is the Academy Award nomination official?

This is not a nomination!

It's just among the movies that voters are allowed to nominate in this category.

I think there's a good chance for him getting an Oscar nomination. It looks like The Dark Knight Rises has a better shot at best picture than SF b/c of it being on the AFI top 10 movies of the year. I think SF is a better movie.

Disappointing news from the Globes. Those are normally more friendly to the more popular films like Skyfall, yet I'm seeing nominations for things I've never heard of or only vaguely heard of - Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, Moonrise Kingdom; actors for things I've heard no buzz on - Richard Gere for something called Arbitage; Naomi Watts for Impossible; Nicole Kidman for The Paperboy and 3 acting nominations for something called The Master. Not that this is a bad thing, good work should be rewarded, but this is out of the norm for the Globes. The Oscars now seem more open to that approach these days.

Django Unchained must be pretty strong. I'm hearing the usual buzz associated with a new Tarantino project, but this is pretty significant and makes it even more interesting.

I am usually not surprised any Bond doesn't get the love at Awards time from the Globes or Oscars, but this year, based on all the big strengths of Skyfall, this is pretty disappointing.

Very disappointed with only one nomination. I think Bardem should of been nominated. I don't really have much respect for the Golden Globes and haven't for many years.

No, don't think so. After INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS every new Tarantino - with Walz and DiCaprio, too! - was going to be huge, even if he had shot white paint on a white canvass drying. No need for a hype machine there.

Think so, too. But judging from the early reviews DJANGO UNCHAINED is a really good movie.

The Golden Globes, of course, are a joke because their organization consists of people who just love to be bribed (they are even under investigation). This is all about getting VIPs together, so they always want big stars there, regardless whether those deserve it or not. They also have a problem with deadlines so some films always get overlooked by them because the members haven´t seen them.

The only reason why they were lauded as indicators for the Oscars (in the past) was this: the winners were announced shortly before the Oscar nomination ballots were due. Many members of the Academy just are too lazy to watch every film - so they look at what´s getting award attention.

That´s why the change this year is so important: Oscar nominations will be decided on BEFORE the Globes.

Returning to SKYFALL´s lack of nominations: well, obviously EON does not kiss their ass enough. And Bardem isn´t either. So...
