Daniel Craig's James Bond has had his critics, but on CBn lots of us like to debate abou his hair styles. Too long? Too shrot? Too thin?

Well now, thanks to the UK Mail Online, researches fear that "...Daniel Craig is receeding at the temples and should have a follicle transplant before he ends up like Sean Connery."

James Bond needs a hair transplant, according to a leading hair loss expert.

Even the world's hunkiest secret agent isn't immune from the trials of male pattern baldness, says hair transplant surgeon Dr Asim Shahmalak, who has voiced his concerns over 007's receding temples in hit movie Skyfall.

Posted Image Daniel Craig back in 2000 with a fuller head of hair at the temples

Dr Shahmalak said: 'Like Sean Connery before him, Daniel Craig's Bond is receding slightly around his temples.

'It's obviously a very physical role, and Craig bulks up considerably to play Bond. It's possible dramatic changes in diet, exercise and his body's muscle mass will have a knock-on effect on his testosterone levels, and thus his hair.
But Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton were also all slightly receding on the temples when they played James Bond, so maybe it's something the producers look for? I'm sure Daniel Craig doesn't want to lose all his hair like Connery, so he should seek professional advice. I think he would benefit from 1,500 to 2,000 individual follicle grafts from the back of his head where his hair is still thick and resilient. That would bulk out his temples nicely.'

Male pattern baldness, the main cause of hair loss, affects an estimated quarter of all men by the age of 30 and two thirds by the age of 60 - meaning that Bond is far from alone.

At 44, Craig is relatively high-risk for hair loss from MPB, the main cause of men seeking the £8,000 replacement treatment from Dr Shahmalak's Crown Clinic in Manchester.

Sir Sean Connery is now totally bald on the top of his head, and wears his hair short. According to Dr Shahmalak, Craig would need individual follicle replacement therapy FUE, where each follicle is extracted before being re-planted where it is needed. This treatment leaves minimal scarring, vital because Craig wears his hair short for many roles.

But the secret agent's hair loss should not take the sheen off the new film's box office performance. It is already on course to become the highest-earning Bond film ever, having made £32.7million in its first seven days in the UK, even before opening in the USA.

"Hair Loss Expert"

Nonsense. I was delighted that they allowed Craig to keep his hairline the way it is, without messing around with hairpieces and the like. Let Bond age gracefully, rather than into some bovril-haired geezer like Moore was in AVTAK.

And suggesting (or insinuating) that a successful, accomplished, utterly sexy actor like Sean Connery should get hair-replacement at his old-age, after an amazing career is foolish bordering on unethical.

Not sure if he's losing his hair, I bet that's the look they wanted for Bond in SKYFALL.

Bond should have a somewhat receded hairline. In my view, Dalton had the perfect Bond hair: dark, still fairly thick, but with a high hairline and a slight thinning at the temples that's visible when he sweeps it back. It's clear that Dalton's ordinary hairstyle was designed to mask his hairline, but during that one scene in LTK when he wears his hair back, it gives him a seasoned, serious, no-nonsense quality.

I know, I don't think he understands the character of James Bond may also have haircuts and he is not a super-model?

As you say Pussfeller, Dalton wears it well and it all shows he's human and of age, not a bloke who's had operations and treatment to keep something that does change with age like a model.

Calm down people. It's natural that his hair has changed. If you notice it in CR they're quite the same but a little longer. He just had them trimmed a little bit more, that's all.

I would like to see his hair a little longer for the next one though. It'd make a nice change from the Skyfall crew-cut.

Nor do I. Craig could play the role bald and his performance would still sell me.

Why should this matter? Sean Connery had been going bald since his 30s. Heck, one could easily tell he was wearing a hairpiece in both "THUNDERBALL" and "YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE". What's the big deal?

+1

Maybe something more like Craig's CR and QOS promotional haircuts.

Yes, he should grow it out a bit more. In SF, it looks too military.

DC's hair was receding year on year until around the time he got the role of Bond. Since 2005/2006 it has stayed roughly the same, which is odd. My guess is that he's possibly having some help in terms of dht blocking pills or something, this would explain why his hairline stopped receding. No big deal, I expect many actors and models do the same thing.

I think in CR they went with what he'd got and filmed around it; there's a couple of brief back-of-head shots where you can see a definite bald spot which is why (I suspect) in QOS he started to use a partial hair-piece with the rather strange combed-across look being an attempt to cover the fact that he was by then receding noticeably from the front and the shaved-head he sported soon afterwards may have been to hide this or because he was having a hair transplant. Since then (in C&A, TGWDT and SF) it's looked much more natural again.

All rather normal given his, age, profile and that he had very fine hair to start with - can't agree with folks about Dalton though; his 'widows peak' look in LTK is awful - he was in serious need of a good hair stylist (and costume designer) on that film.

Doesn't look all that receded to me compared to the second picture. It's just shorter in Skyfall, more of a "buzzed" look. Articles like this always make me laugh. There are far more important things to worry about in life than whether or not the actor playing James Bond should consider a hair transplant. The quote about the producers intentionally looking for someone who is receding at the temples is ridiculous. It's like the "expert" being quoted thinks hair loss is a crime, even though it's a natural part of aging for lots of men.

haha, I actually came across that article last night while sweeping the internet, and I was like uh... O.O, leave him blinkin alone. Eventhough it's receded a bit (or at least it seemed to me from how it is on SF, or maybe it's just that haircut) I don't think this is a problem. He is obviously an older, mature agent so it's not like I expect a full Goldeneye, luxurious mop of Brosnan-esque hair.

Props to Pussfeller for the Dalton comment. So agree.

I see nothing wrong with Craig's hair in SkyFall. He still has a fairly full head of hair.

Dalton looked like he didn't even comb his in LTK and Moore's hair got thicker and bigger as he aged..which is just odd.

Looks fine to me... then again, I've been quite obviously losing my hair since I was about 18 or 19.

I also think the comments about Sean Connery are HILARIOUS since he wore a toupee/hairpiece for EVERY one of his Bond films...

Doesn't look at all like he's balding; they just cut it really short for Skyfall. I hope they let him grow it out a bit for Bond 24; his hair looked great in QoS.

I really hope that Craig grows his hair out more in the next film. Damn, he might as well grow it out longer. It would be nice to see a Bond with the GoldenEye length again.

If he does go a bit bald in the next four years, it won't be anything prop specialists can't handle. ;)

If they decide to make his hair fuller, that is. I'd just leave the hair (or non-hair) alone; there's no reason why even Bond would not be susceptible to the weaknesses or ordinary men.
