Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere on the boards somewhere but what does everybody think?

Personally, I say it's about time. I've grown tired of the two, though nothing was personally wrong with them (Die Another Day aside).

Wow. Assuming it checks out, another strong exclusive for Baz Bamigboye.

I think Purvis and Wade have possibly largely had a bad rap, as it's never been clear to see exactly what they contributed and what other writers polished up. They know their Fleming and clearly had some decent ideas over their period with the franchise. However, securing John Logan as the sole writer for BOND 24 is a huge fillip for the Bond team. He's said to have been responsible for much of the great dialogue we've seen emerge from SKYFALL and he's clearly a great talent with a proven track record of delivering top scripts. Based on his interviews, he's also clearly hugely enthusiastic about Bond and the key characters. It will be great to see what he can cook up on his own for BOND 24. Also interesting to read that they have an idea already about the rough story for the next movie.

a change is good but I think john Logan should work with another screenwriter......but who?

With Logan becoming the head writer, I would think that Blofeld is coming back? He did mention it in a interview.......

Baz was right about Harris. Seems he scooped this story as well. Cheers to him, though it is a shame that P&W are out, as they were quite good at laying solid groundwork and getting the ball rolling.

Wow!! Talk about Bond emotion overload....and Baz Bamigboye was for pretty accurate with his Skyfall articles so I can believe this.. As for Purvis and Wade, while they did start out weak with TWINE, got worse with DAD, rebounded to the top with Paul Haggis on CR, slipped backwards on QoS and now back at the top with SF, I'd say a change would be good for all parties in order to rejuvinate ideas and such..P&W should take at least Bond 24 off and if for some reason it doesn't do as well, they can return for Bond 25..

Yes, that was my thinking too. Interesting that Baz seems to imply that Purvis & Wade stepped aside, rather than were pushed out. Perhaps they felt like the second writers being brought on were undermining their work, or they'd simply ran out of ideas!

I think that P&W are probably drained of Bond ideas for now...remember what happened with Tom Mankiwitcz on TMWTGG...he quit halfway through because he had written himself out.. Richard Maibaum came on board and then Mankiwitcz returned...so a break from Bond for a film or two is probably beneficial to P&W..

I don't know why everyone his praising Baz Bamigboye. For me the man is a major pain in the [censored] by revealing far too much about Skyfall. It is all a ego thing between these various journalists to who can scoop who and nothing about being the right thing to do.

Minus CR and hopefully 'Skyfall', couldn't agree much more.

Can't really say I disagree. Hopefully Logan wrote some good stuff in SkyFall.

Also P&W wrote 5 Bond movies in a row. I think even good writers would be running out of gas at that point.

Wow, shocking news IMO. I would have never guessed I thought P&W were just signed on for Bond 24 and Bond 25. Should make for a nice change of pace.

I always wanted P & W to take a break, but I'm still not sure about Logan. I hope SF will reassure me.

It now seems likelier than ever, though I still wouldn't call it likely.

I should think it's pretty safe to assume Sam Mendes will be back, as well, then.

SKYFALL was the first time that Logan had worked with Mendes though, wasn't it?

This is exciting news sounds more and more likely we'll be getting Bond 24 in 2014, I wasn't expecting any Bond 24 news until the release of SF on Blu Ray.

No, they worked on Sweeney Todd together, when Mendes was going to direct it. Possibly other stuff, too.

Because he's Mendes' boy.

I wouldn´t put it like that. Although Logan might like to ;)

About P&W...Finally!!! After 13 years of wishing!!!

Didn´t like the comments Wade made the other night at the premiere about giving Logan a lot of credit for the Silva/Bond scene. Sounded a bit homophobic, or as if he had a grudge.

So we´ve got Logan, Craig, Fiennes, Harris, ..., now all we need is Deakins and Mendes back.

not sure why P&W are hated so much as they were partly responsible for two of the most liked films in the series CR and SF

To some extent, they're just whipping boys. If they're such hacks, then what about the producers who kept hiring them? After CR, I've been inclined to tolerate P&W, and look upon them as serviceable providers of raw Bond plot material. As long as their work receives some polish from a screenwriter more attuned to dialogue and human nature, I'd be happy to see them stay. But by the same token, I'm not terribly sad to see them go.

So we´ve got Logan, Craig, Fiennes, Harris, ..., now all we need is Deakins and Mendes back.

It's starting to look like B24 will be the first Craig film in which there is no major vestige of the Brosnan era.
