btw, Brosnan is the 2nd longest-running Bond in the franchise after Roger Moore, from 1994 to 2004.

Not really a fifth film but very amusing nevertheless:

THX for sharing SAF, I thought the Blofeld spoofed character 'Blowfish' was funny and clever.

I would've liked a more balanced entry for Pierce Brosnan to depart on. One of the qualities I like about Die Another Day is its re-embrace of over the top elements, but it just went way too far and felt completely imbalanced.

Here's my wishlist of things I would've liked in Pierce's 5th and final outing:

1. A similar look to Die Another Day. It's by far the brightest, most colorful and polished entry in Pierce's run, and a continuation of that style would have been most welcome.

2. A return to the "insane, jaw-dropping stunt PTS" a la The Spy Who Loved Me and Goldeneye.

3. A new composer with a particular affinity for the exoticism of Thunderball's score.

4. The addition of an unused literary Bond character.

5. An emphasis on "short and sweet" in terms of plotting. With the exception of Goldeneye, all of Brosnan's Bond films feel overlong.

6. An extended chase sequence finale a la License to Kill involving several different types of vehicles.

7. Last but not least: David Bowie singing the theme song.

Wrong Sean Connery was the second with 6 on Eon but his 7th was unofficial when challenger Roger Moore movie  Octopussy. You might say he was the 3rd at the moment.

Well Eon production has change after Roger Moore left. Only 5th one for Brosnan is an unofficial Like it was for Sean Connery in 1983 with the Thunderball remake. Never Say Never again. Why don't you make him something like outside of Eon production.

I think if Everything or Nothing had been made into a film, it could've been a great send-off for Pierce. As it is, even though it's a game, EoN feels like a film and is a good swan song for the Brosnan era.

Why didn't Barbara and Pierce get along? I tend to get the idea that she is the more dominant of the partnership with Wilson, as he seems a very quiet chap, but I could well be wrong. His scripts throughout the eighties, especially, show him to be a strong writer.

BB and PB did get along. PB just was pissed when EON decided to reboot.

They all are professionals. And if EON had wanted to do more PB-Bonds they would have, regardless of personal likings or dislikings.

As much as I feel Brosnan deserved to go out with a better film than DAD, it probably would have been uninspiring as the others. Actually DAD was one of Brosnan's better performances as Bond.

I to wondered for a while the what if question. my two views on it are

we would still have Casino Royale but instead of rebooting it would just be the next story.

We would of had something  to do with Simon Cowell plotting to brainwash the world with his shows to make him supreme ruler of the world.

The think to remember is he was 49 in 02 it was the right time to go when you look at it in retrospective. if he carried on he might of had the Moore syndrome of believing he was still bond at 57. he was my bond i grew up with his films I first saw Goldeneye when i was 4  and still think his four are certainly always in my top 10 pick. he will be remembered for leaving at the right time.

I think he left at the right time. I mean the older Roger Moore ones are not as good.

I'm not sure, in the "James Bond: Unmasked" book, which was written by one of our staff members, Dalton seems to dispell the belief that LTK was written for him.

How can it not have been? I'm curious who else the writers would have been thinking of.

For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy were pretty good.

Brosnan got old fast after DAD.

Timing is everything.  I am more than happy with the way the way things have played out.  Imagine if we had actually been delivered a film called JINX?  On the heels of CATWOMAN?  Bond would not be where Bond is today - enjoying a day in the sun with a Producers Guild nomination.  Let us be thankful that JINX did not find its footing post-DAD.

I don't care much for the age agreement, yes Brosnan would have been 50/51 if they did a film in 2004 but that is not as bad as Moore was in AVTAK. IMO a 5th Brosnan film would have made up for not getting a 3rd Dalton film and it would give the series a format,

Connery & Lazenby = 7 films

Roger Moore = 7 films

Dalton & Brosnan = 7 films

Then they could start a whole new set of 7 films. I wish there was a Bond film every two years but I fear those days are behind us and after the success of Skyfall who knows. Anyway what can you do, for me it casts a dark shadow over the Brosnan films which made me a fan in the first place, its how I imagine fans felt in 89-95.

I rather like A View to a Kill.  I'll take it over a lot of the films in the series.

Honestly, Jinx should've never found a footing IN Die Another Day. She should have been left on the cutting room floor, right next to the ice wave and the invisible car.

I hope not. Bond 24 is supposed to be out in 2014.

Was there ever a script or a story for a 5th Brosnan film?

Well at first Barbara and Craig claimed SONY got a head of itself but then on a radio show Craig announced filming will begin at the end of 2013, so it looks good.

Was there ever a script or a story for a 5th Brosnan film?

To quote JImmy Bond from page one;

Shortly after DAD was released, I recall MGM releasing a statement saying the next [Brosnan Bond film] would have been more of the same. I also know that they were working on a script that was going nowhere. So perhaps for a time they were working on another OTT Brosnan film, before, as Brosnan put it: paralysis set in.

There was a part of me (during viewing of DAD initially) that felt this was as far as they could go in this (over the top) direction. So perhaps it was inevitable that the next film was going to be a down to Earth thriller, but at the same time I would have ate up another OTT film.

Though to be honest I'm not sure how you can top DAD in terms of scale and not enter the realm of silly.
