In Italy there is a club of Bond lovers called "Le Cercle". The President is a Bond expert, and he elaborated a theory about Skyfall.
Could Skyfall take its plot from Ian Fleming's The man with the golden gun? In fact, in that book Bond, after a mission, lose his memory and is conditioned to kill M by the Russians. He could be the one who comes from the past of M. He could be the one who tries to kill M, and the training and the talk with the doctor in the teaser should come as part of the reconditioning of Bond.
What do you think?

This has been speculated before, but I'm fairly certain that the attempted assassination does not feature in SKYFALL. It also seems that when Bond goes missing presumed dead, he is fully aware of who he is, but chooses not to return to MI6 immediately or make them aware that he has survived.

I still can’t quite understand why he handles it that way.
I think if we could get to the bottom of that, a major piece of the jigsaw would fall into place.

My instinct is that it might be as simple as him being disillusioned by the service and feeling unappreciated after M gives the order for Eve to fire at Patrice, even though it could result in injuring him. I agree this will be important for forming M and Bond's relationship during the movie.

It could just be that, but I can’t help but think he’s cynical enough to know that something like that might happen one day given his job. ‘The big picture’.
I’m thinking of the prominence of the psychological evaluation with the word association - ‘Skyfall’ and the flashback to the room with the dead man in the PTS. I think that Bond thinks that letting people think he is dead is the best way forward with this case. That someone on the inside of MI6 wants him (and perhaps other top agent) dead and he started to suspect this in that mysterious room, then a fellow agent (Eve) shoots him on M's orders.
We know that it’s the TV news report about the explosion at MI6 that prompts him to go back to London and see M.

I doubt EON will do anything remotely related to the Ian Fleming legacy.

Apart from the bit about Bond trying to kill M presumably.
