Is anyone familiar with a Macmillan US edition of Colonel Sun? The only US edition I am familiar with is the US Harper & Row.

Does anyone have a copy of the Macmillan edition?

Not sure there is one. The seller is probably confusing this with the Pan books edition. Pan is a Macmillan imprint.

The seller is claiming that it is a hardback.

Here is the add. It says paperback in the description, but hardback in the Bibliographic Details

http://www.abebooks....&tn=colonel+sun

I believe you right that it is a Pan.

Looks like the seller has amended the Bibliographic Details. It also reads Paperback now.

Mystery solved. :)
