As we know, in the past there were female novelists who used male pen names in order to be taken seriously.
But are there any male writers (past or present) who use female pen names, for whatever reason? I've not heard of one until now. Although I suspect that there may be in the romance novel industry.
Any ideas?
Male writers with female pseudonyms?

Joe Orton used the pseudonym Edna Welthorpe to write letters criticising his own plays to generate controversy.

Peter O'Donnell wrote a series of historical mystery thrillers under the pen name 'Madeleine Brent', primarily intended for female readers. The first ones became something of a surprise success, and so O'Donnell kept on them from 1971 to 1986, publishing a total of nine books. His pseudonym was only revealed once the last of these, 'Golden Urchin' was released. I've not read any of those myself, but have heard good things about them. One day I'll pick one of those up.
Christopher Wood wrote a few books under the names Penny Sutton and Rosie Dixon.
