I find that the timing for the release of Skyfall this year being extremely convenient for not only us as fans, but for the franchise, and the producers themselves. It has occurred to me, that following what was considered a disappointment from many fans' point of view, this film will be 'Bond with a capital "B"' not only because it is the 50th anniversary, but also for some fans that may have been lost in the past four years...

Though Quantum Of Solace was a financial success, it is not regarded as a great Bond film by the majority. I just think that the 50th anniversary couldn't have come around at a better time, because out of it, I believe we will be receiving the greatest Bond film of the past 10 years, (Yes, even to surpass Casino Royale!), and a full recovery in the franchise's history.

Let's see... where do I begin? I know. I'll start by saying that I disagree with your theory, er, whatever it is.

By all means, the best time to release the 50th anniversary film is in 2012. Splending timing, that. Jolly good of the producers to do that for us blighters.

Not sure what you mean by "Win(ning) Back Some Fans That May Have Been Lost In The Past Years." Did they take the tube and get lost?

So far as I know SF will be this decade's first Bond film. On that basis it should easily be this decade's best Bond film.

Ultimately, I do believe we need to wait for the film to be released. Let's do that, shall we?

I think I better stop now. I sense Jim's imminent presence.

I can guarantee that Skyfall will be the best Bond film of this decade when it is released.

Ouch. I come back and it's a free-for-all in here!

All I was implying was that I felt the timing was in both ours, and the producers favor....

Perhaps I should play my CBn forum posting closer to the chest?

If I've noticed one thing on these forums, it's that some people sure do like to read a lot into stuff that isn't there.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to say. The 'timing' of Skyfall? Bond films traditionally come out in November, that's nothing new. You mean because it's the 50th? Well I suppose it was a given that they'd release a film this year, or perhaps not. Remember they passed up what many believed to be a golden opportunity by not releasing a film in 2007.

As for suggesting QoS scared off fans, I can't back that idea. First of all I enjoy the film, and secondly, if anything people will be coming out in droves for Skyfall in the hope that it bests QoS.

I commend your enthusiasm. It's just that I disagree with the premise of your thread, that's all. Don't let this discourage you, even I've come up with the odd clunker here and there.

That's what I say when I get up from my seat after seeing it for the first time in the theater.

Good or bad, there's nothing quite like the spectacle of a Bond film in theaters.

I NEVER got that QOS was such a dismal failure. It had 3 times as many action sequences as CR did (...a direct Daniel Craig quote) and it made a substantially larger profit. In following the OO7 formula, it tried to do something different, as they all do (I liked the water monopoly angle) .

That being said, I think there will be a lot of anticipation for Daniel Craig's 3rd movie. Like the 1st two Bonds (Connery & Moore), it wan't until their 3rd releases (Goldfinger & TSWLM, respectively) that their turn at the OO7 helm really took off. (It's a shame that Lazenby & Dalton can't be included in this group for lack of film credits. And as for Brosnan, well, he hit the ground running w/Goldeneye and continued to run out of steam with each new release.)

SKYFALL's going to be great. We'll wait with eager anticipation for it's release. We'll watch, form opinions, pick apart and disect it until it's out on DVD and then, move on to Bond 24. See you there.

I felt the three times the action strongly worked against QoS. Especially the means in which the action was edited. For me, it is truly a chore to watch.

Very much looking forward to Skyfall though.

Plus, I do not believe it was Brosnan who was running out of steam, but rather the direction Barbra and Michael took it.
I do agree each of his films dropped in greatness though. However, I do greatly enjoy TND.

Unfortunately its threads like these that dissuade a lot of people from actually posting on these forums, as each poster clambers for a wittier rebuke than the previous one.

Anyway back on topic, I think that with the four year break and the 50th anniversary, yes people will be excited. Not sure I agree with the other OP comments, but nothing wrong with a bit of enthusiasm.
