Daniel Craig is to star as James Bond in a Heineken advert in support of the franchise's upcoming instalment Skyfall.

Craig will appear as 007 when the brand's marketing campaign launches in over 170 countries in September, marking the first ever participation of a Bond actor in the brand's 15-year partnership with the series.

Skyfall producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli commented: "The level of collaboration with Heineken is unprecedented. We are excited by the global reach and the creativity that the Heineken team is able to deliver."

Alexis Nasard, chief commercial officer of Heineken, added: "When two great brands like Heineken and James Bond join together, excitement is guaranteed. We are proud of our long standing partnership."

Better than Coca Cola, at least.

Bond and beer. Dunno. Guess the money's good, but I don't exactly associate Bond with beer.

The first one is good - right up until Eva's really cheesy grinning at the end (lovely girl but I can't stand that excessive mirth at the end - would have gone for a naughty expression myself)

The second is just awful. Awful.

I get the need for these, but they are fundamentally extremely and sickeningly cheesy.

I think he had a few in the books, Red Stripe if memory serves, in TMWTGG. But more to quench his thirst than for serious drinking.

Nothing wrong with it. I really doubt he'd go out of his way to order a Heineken though.

I preferred the second one, ectually.

Thanks for posting them, MHarkin. I didn't know Mr. Cleese had done another one after the Schwepps ad for LTK.

I'm off to YouTube to see what else I've missed....

Not sure about that. In QoS the commercials where too "bondian". I'm not sure that this time with the anniversary on the doorstep things will be less cheesy. And with the character that the movie is currently building (great cast, academy award-winner director etc) it won't be that appropriate this time.

I think these will be alright...I mean, it's something Bond has always been seen as an ultimate, and well recieved, marketing tool. The Connery and Moore era was just as effective I think.

I remeber from 'Quantum Of Solace' the Coke Zero and Sony TV adverts...they were pretty darn cool I have to say if you remember them? I'll post them when I get back home today.

If it's done well, it will work really well I reckon!

Out of all the marketing adverts Bond has been used for, I have to say that this is by far the most stylish and beautiful.

That's the one Mharkin!

Also, I this was a pretty stylish way and, ultimately, very Bond-like for 007 marketing...

Ads like these, if well done, add awareness and they even get paid for it. I am looking forward to it.

Dunno.

Am I the only one who misses the day when Timothy Dalton turned down doing an American Express commercial as James Bond because he felt it wasn't in keeping with the character, being a salesman and walking billboard?

I know it would seem movies are made and marketed differently these days, but still it leaves an unpleasant taste.

Which is why Craig was fine doing it. A completely artistic decision, in line with his other comments on popular culture.

On that basis, a more appropriate alcoholic beverage for his endorsement would have been (...wait for it)... whine.

this site claims SF will have the most product placements in one single film
http://screenrant.co...nt-robf-113418/

i can just see a scene unfolding
BOND: thank goodness for my Omega watch, i got to the Four Seasons Hotel just in time to enjoy a Heineken before my swim. Although i spilled some on my Brioni Italian knit suit lucky Q branch gave me this Gerlitz Smudge Off Spray Cleaner to fix it. (Holds up Mentos)

I've never seen that video before - looks a bit old though (or rather Craig looks a bit young).

Nice subtle Swarovski billboard on the side of a bus during recent filming. Wonder how long the camera will linger on it in the film itself... Crystals are forever, etc.

I really feel, this needs a bit of perspective.

One year ago, everybody was praying for a new Bond film to happen. Now it does - consequently to the MGM problems it makes sense, the budget may be tighted then the previous. Its known, they have about 45 Mill from product placement - they obviously NEED it. If that Heiniken promo is in that amount? Who knows...Point is - instead of being happy, the film happens, you moan and critisize every step along the way, like you get paid for it.

Seems you feel, being a Bond fan and paying 10 $ gives you the right to slash out on their every effort to make a film and a good film on top. If you don't want a Heiniken commercial - easy - give them the $$$ they get from it and be done with it. If you cannot do that, let them do their job.

Now you can start lashing out at me or maybe think over your attitude. By the looks of it, some on this forum define fandom with being negative instead of seeing the glas half full. I think, its sad...

A glass half full... of Heineken.

As you say, though, gets the money in to make the film but still, y'know, Heineken. Tramp juice. One of their five a day.
