(picture from google…)
After two days of practice, the shooting began on the 17th of January in the evening. The "extra cars" assembled by the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum and drove close together on a nearby highway, so they could shoot without another car entering the scene. The shooting continued for another two nights.

I wonder how Skyfall will end..with an open end like 'Casino Royale' did, or a nice end with no room for expanding and ready for another original film for 'Bond 24'.
And love the fact that our UK red-top trash papers said that Bond was only filming 'Skyfall' in Turkey due to cutting budgets....Shanghai it is then!!

great stuff... any news about whether it is the second unit/ how the shooting will proceed/ Daniel Craig's involvement?
Obviously he will not be involved, as he is in Manila now and only with a handbag as baggage, which means in and out in a heartbeat.

Anyone knows what cars are involved? Probably not but I thought I´d ask anyway. Pics reminded me instantly of Michael Man´s Heat Pacino/Deniro pursuit.
The car in the second picture looks like a Mercedes E or S series. But we need more photos in order to be able to say with certainty.

You´re right Luigi. Say, did that white mercedes twitter pic got confirmed as part of SF filming? If so, lots of mercs this time around.

I wonder if it's one of those strange Chinese fakes, the ones that sorta look like the echt product but... aren't.

Know just what you mean. Plastic Mercs they bulid! They do, those lunatics. 5 year olds inserting the headlights and 8 year olds calibrating the brakes with cod liver oil. Then they go off to run over little girls in the street without any spectator stopping to help because they´re to oblivioius to, say, other human beings. Rant over.Thank you.

Unfortunately I did not find further information about it.
Those rascals were filming in China while they had all our attention focused on Bognor Regis. Very sneaky, I'd say.
They're smart as foxes, but on January 16th I had reported in another thread that the second unit was in Shanghai for the filming of a driving scene starring Mark Higgins.

Reminds me of those American fake remakes of European films that don't look like real thing and consequently aren't...

Indeed you did. You've been doing a great job, Luigi, keeping us updated on the film. To you and to all our other intrepid reporters, thank you!

Must be en helluva action scene/pursuit if they have Higgins. Rally driver right? In an highway? Nice. They're smart as foxes, but on January 16th I had reported in another thread that the second unit was in Shanghai for the filming of a driving scene starring Mark Higgins.

True. Very true. Although, in some very rare ocasions, and I mean RARE, the remakes are better. But I can only name two or three

The Chinese would be happy if they had two or three hits with their Merc production.

So very true Dustin. But what can one do. It´s all very out of control. China has awaken, and not in a good respectful, human, cultural way. But that´s for another thread.

A purple highway. I like it.
That's a strange way of doing things. I suppose they couldn't shut the highway down entirely. The "extra cars" assembled by the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum and drove close together on a nearby highway, so they could shoot without another car entering the scene.
I wonder if the Science and Technology Museum will be featured/seen in the film. It's got a certain Ken Adam quality to its design:

A car chase, like it says in the bulletin.I wonder how the highway scene will play in the story.....I mean there is no craig? so what could it be.....?
Do you actually think Daniel Craig does his own stunt driving?

It could be a car chase without James Bond.

It could be, but I'm not really sure how that would work. Who would be chasing, and who would be being chased? It could be a car chase without James Bond.
It may not be a chase scene at all. From the sounds of things, production created a rolling roadblock, with a group of cars driving in tight formation behind the actual filming to slow down civilian traffic and prevent unwanted cars from entering the shot. So I'm wondering if they want to have multiple shots of the car(s) in the scene and are using the rolling roadblock to guarantee continuity between the shots, or if the scene calls for a lone vehicle speeding out of the city at three in the morning.

The great car chase might be the one in London.
