I'm trying to think of how everything we know about the film might fit together, but so far, I've got nothing.

i've made a typewritten compilation of everything that has been documented about "Skyfall." It comes to a bit more than two single-spaced pages. In terms of narrative, it doesn't add up to much of anything. For the time being at least, we're in the dark out here!

if the satellite is true...I would like to see Bond failing to get the satellite in time because he is wound, capture, knock out, arrested or something that the Villian manage to get it before he does but manage to put a tracking device or something that Mi6 could use to watch...but the villian learn about this and attack Mi6 to prevent the tracking from going further but manage to go to the last location.......China

I'm a fan of this kind of plot. Like in FRWL or FYEO. But I still want the film to be more larger than life than the previous Craig films. Now CR is my second favorite Bond film ever and I actually enjoyed QOS despite it faults. But I would love a mix of the gritty down to earth approach of those films with a more classic Goldfinger/Thunderball kind of feel. I think Craig could really shine in such a setting and style.

Alright, assuming this is true, here's what I've got so far:

MI6 have been trying to identify members of a foreign spy ring operating in London. So far, they have been unsuccessful - the only lead that they have is the office of a private equity firm in Shanghai that they believe to be a front for Chinese intelligence. They get their chance when a spy satellite drifts off-course and crashes somewhere in Turkey. James Bond is assigned to retrieve the core of the satellite for analysis. He is successful, and Q confirms that the equity firm is indeed connected to the Chinese. This attracts interest because the Chinese are not running the ring in London. MI6 wants to know who the Chinese are looking at, and assign Bond to investigate. However, MI6 comes under attack from someone who wants the data on the satellite destroyed. As Bond goes to Shanghai to find out what is really going on, M comes under investigation from Ralph Fiennes, a legendary spy-hunter, because MI6 missed the fact that other people were interested in the satellite, which led to the attack on London. As Fiennes digs deeper into M's history, he finds certain secrets that she would prefer to remain upsoken.

Never read such bollocks about a new Bond film in my life. These were nothing but extremely casual rumours that these people have scraped from fan forums like this one.

Based on what we have thus far, this is a pretty good synopsis CT. But, there's still a lot we don't know. I think you've got some solid pieces to it, but maybe not the order events. Slowly though, it seems to be taking shape.

One thing that caught me in the bit was the mention of Q and Moneypenny. We know about Q and granted, we've already had some speculation about Eve, but I took this as the fact that she might just turn up as just herself. Lord knows what draft AICN's resources got their hands on, but it has been four years. Maybe, when we see her, it'll just be passed off. No origin, no nothing. Just Moneypenny. Done.

I realise this is a side note to the plot, but it was the only other thing that grabbed me.

Beyond the official line synopsis and that this brief new satellite-thingy in the AICN report, is there anything we actually "know"?

Here's an interesting tidbit from 'The Worthing Herald' I just found.

Looks like the rumours of M's death may be justified, or not.

Stephen Webber, of Columbia Walk, Durrington, had his name picked from a hat of driver bearers at HD Tribe Funeral Directors, in Broadwater Road, Worthing, who were vying to visit the set of the new James Bond film, Skyfall.

The 27-year-old received the chance when HD Tribe was approached to contribute one of its Daimler hearses for the filming of a scene in the upcoming film.

Stephen drove to the Greenwich Royal Naval College on Friday, January 6, and described the experience of being involved in the filming as “awesome”.

Greenwich Royal Naval College, eh!

Um... no; there's more than one coffin involved, and Judi Dench was involved in the filming of the scene, so it can't be M's funeral.

Yeah. M paying her respects to dead agents is infinitely more likely.

Well, Judi Dench was spotted and photographed going to the scene when it was shot. And the funeral scene is #35 but a clapperboard of the underground bunker - the first one released - is somwhere around the #65 mark. Empire ran a photo showing Dench on-scene in the bunker.

Wonder if the plot comes from the USA-193 incident from a few years ago. It happened shortly before Quantum of Solace was released, so around the time of brainstorming for Bond 23?

Anyway, it's great that they're throwing in some real spy stuff.

i would buy that because the bond films always throw in a little bit of reality into it.

casino royale played with the idea that before 911 lots of investors whom normally would have invested into airlines didn't and therefore didn't lose any money to the declining amount customers who travel via airports

and quantum played with the idea of south american get screwed because of 911 north america was suppose to turn its attention to Latin america and its relationship but it took a back seat after 911 when they changed focus to the middle east.

this USA-193 incident and the rumor of a crashed satellite seems kinda DR.NO, but fitting since its the 50th anniversary of DR.NO.
I"m not saying that if all these rumors are true that they are just remaking DR.NO but rather creating a similar and possibly a more developed vision of it in modern day

and its not that much like DR.NO if i remember correctly Dr.No was simply about DR.NO destroying satellites as they were lunched by crashing them.

That is correct. And not exactly the satellites but the rockets that carried them, through the tempering of their gyroscopes if I remember correctly.

Tell me, does the toppling of American missiles really compensate for having no hands?

i would think that if it was M's funeral they would probably do whatever they could to keep it a secret, even as much as going as far as to film scenes with M present just to keep it under warps.

I agree. But even if that was the plan for SKYFALL, M's funeral wasn't the filming in Greenwich.

M will survive. At least up to the scene 134, I mean...

i don't think that they will kill M. I still just think they are playing it safe and doing what they did with Q's character by setting it up so that if he didn't return it was explained.
I think if Desmond Llewelyn was still alive they would have had him in DAD.
